What's happening with the Kitchener-Central Transit Hub? It will feature two platforms for GO trains and VIA Rail, an easier connection to ION, intercity buses, as well as local buses and bike share.

🧵 Let's talk about the Grand River Transit business plan! We'll be participating in next week's public input session on Wednesday, April 16, and maybe you should too! We'd like to see even more, but this is an ambitious plan with a lot to be excited about. Here's why:

Today is the public input session for GRT's ambitious business plan. @tritag.ca has a great article about all of the good, and what can be improved upon.

I've written an article on the extraordinary transit success of Brampton, how it was achieved, and the lessons it has for other suburban areas in North America. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Advocates give TTC station a makeover to spur city to fund new wayfinding system TTCriders says existing system has 'hodgepodge of signage' that needs updating www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Advocacy Update: In a letter to Toronto City Council’s Infrastructure and Environment Committee, we supported TTCriders’ campaign for full active transit signal priority on the Eglinton Crosstown and Finch West LRTs.

Toronto currently doesn't allow their transit priority system to insert a transit phase for streetcars going straight, even though the system is able to. Streetcars need to wait for left turns. If the City also disallows phase insertion on LRT lines that would be an insult to ON taxpayers.

Ever sat in a streetcar, stuck at a red light, while cars turning left zoom past? Now imagine that happening on the brand-new Eglinton Crosstown and Finch West LRT lines that cost billions of dollars.

Give transit the green light!🚦🚇💚 Did you know that new LRTs could be stuck waiting at red lights? After years of waiting and $ billions invested, Crosstown and Finch West LRTs should be as fast and reliable as possible! Send a message to Councillors: ttcriders.ca/greenlight

Can we build transit infrastructure more affordably? On January 15th, we attended a talk by @egoldwyn.bsky.social of the NYU Marron Institute of Urban Management and Transit Costs Project. Hosted by the IMFG and Infrastructure Institute at the University of Toronto 1/6

Funding platform edge doors is good. However we need to talk about the elephant in the room. Toronto's cost to build transit is out of control. A few years ago the budget to build platform screen doors quadrupled from $1 billion to $4 billion with no good explanation.
