This project has been recognized as a top priority in Kitchener as far back as 2016. Expected to open in 2029, the Region also hopes to build affordable housing and mixed use development near the station. Community advocates are opposed to the eviction process happening on the site.

MTSO also urged the use of this system at all current and future TSP-equipped intersections and supported the implementation of independent transit signal phases at key intersections.

On April 9, Torontoβs Infrastructure and Environment Committee is meeting to discuss the 2025 Congestion Management Plan, including new transit signal infrastructure. Call in, speak up, and demand signal priority for transit. Riders deserve better.

MTSO warmly welcomes the announcement regarding the expansion of GO Bus service into First Nations communities.
We encourage Metrolinx to consider planning further extensions into other First Nations communities within their service jurisdiction.

This in-person event is a great opportunity to connect with fellow members and learn about the latest updates on transit networks across Southern Ontario. We will be discussing about the provincial election, new campaigns that are being worked on and priorities for the future of the group.

To ensure that we can build enough transit to serve our rapidly growing region, we aggressively need to take drastic measures to reduce construction costs.

The most important takeaway is that high construction costs are not inevitable. There's a common saying amongst politicians and transit agencies in Canada "it never gets cheaper to build major infrasturcture projects". However that isn't the case, there are many things we can do to bring costs down

During the presentation and later discussion with Matti Siemiatycki, Eric touched on a number of factors which lead to increased construction costs such as Intergovernmental and Third Party Agreements, Labour, Procurement, Agency Capacity, Station Design, Standardization, Contingency, and more.

Fully tunnelled subways in South Korea, Italy, and Turkey cost less to build than much simpler surface light rail in the Toronto Region. Why is this the case?

The Toronto region is currently spending $80 billion on transit infrastructure over the next decade on the largest transit expansion program in North America. However, we are not getting nearly as much transit infrastructure as we should be getting for our huge investment.
