Because also, in my mind Lithuania and Poland were hyper-christian in the middle ages. I think of Jadwiga and co. But then, that was late middle ages I suppose.

Right? Sweden was "formally" christianized in the 11th and I thought that was late. Also, I mean, we're all still doing pagan stuff 😉

"officially converted" obviously. The pagan traditions lived on long after but that's such a remarkable difference. Nearly 1000 years of middle age history we treat as a monolith when it was anything but *gets on soap box and is promptly tackled off*

Oof it’s really a problem. I work on the finance end of things and it’s definitely a bit more open there but the science-side is what really needs the communication!
