who told this pampered asshole he has the right to speak to anyone like this?

We have lost one of the true giants of the screen. Gene Hackman could play anyone, and you could feel a whole life behind it. He could be everyone and no one, a towering presence or an everyday Joe. That’s how powerful an actor he was. He will be missed, but his work will live on forever.

Elon Musk seems to be a Mad Max fan. He tweeted that Furiosa “could be a good one” and now this. If he were a halfway decent person, he’d offer to fund George Miller’s Mad Max: The Wasteland. But alas he’s a prick.

“Gene Hackman was a virtuoso of the smile. When the corners of his mouth curled up, this split-second pause before the unveiling told you something thrilling was about to happen, but he was so inventive that you never knew quite what.” www.vulture.com/article/gene...

R.I.P Gene. One of the greatest to ever do it.

Gene Hackman was really one of the best to ever do it. RIP.

The thing about Gene Hackman is he really could do it all. The second you see him in Robert Rossen’s LILITH, his first credited film part, you knew he was going to be great. And he just remained great.

Hit Man. What a movie. What a cast. I loved it the first time I saw it in theaters, and I love it even more now. One of the year’s best… and almost nobody remembers it because it went straight to Netflix after a one-week theatrical release.

I think takes like this mischaracterize the series as something prestige-y when it’s *always* been junk food. Good, bad, or otherwise, it’s all pizza and it’s all tasty #filmsky

Amazon owning Bond isn’t good news, but if they let Martin Campbell reboot the series again…

Spielberg made Raiders. Nolan made Oppenheimer. My favorite films from both directors, and they wouldn’t have even been made if they did a Bond movie. People used to understand that Bond is not supposed to be prestige art. It’s supposed to be fun.

lol

I gotta admit, recency bias is kind of nuts. The amount of times I’ve said “my favorite film of the year” only to walk back on that comment a mere day later is insane.

Credit to Mark Cuban for being on the right side of things, but like… you’re not my dad, man. Stop acting like some sort of authority figure when you got rich off a fluke and haven’t done diddly since.

The idea of a stimulus check from Doge is disgusting. Fire a bunch of Americans and then give some of the money back to other Americans. It is cannibalism. It would be blood money.

Warning: if you watch The Girl with the Needle, it’s guaranteed that you won’t be able to smile for at least the rest of the day.

Happy Birthday, Kyle MacLachlan!

This is definitely better than having healthcare

NO TIME TO DIE? more like NO, TIME TO DIE!

Me whenever I think of Trump

I still don’t know why there’s a speed button on the Netflix app. Why would anyone want to watch a movie on 1/5x+ speed? That’s honestly sad to think about.

Can we please stop paying box-office pundits? I really don’t need some negative Andy who’s never visited a theater in their life to tell me how Megalopolis bombed.

Trump blames Ukraine for starting the war the way a rapist blames his victim for looking too sexy.

Oh, Canada is a beautiful, beautiful film. A recognition of how depressing life can be, especially as it ends, but also a celebration of the joy that comes from living and completing a life that’s truly your own.

Haven’t thought about these movies in a while, but this is an extremely entertaining and informative hour that reminded me I should at least rewatch them. I also find it incredible that in a movie where Alfred’s brain is downloaded to a computer post-mortem, Batnips are what people complain about.

Me: BATMAN BEGINS is great, but I was amused by the writers’-fiat plot device that a place can be SO corrupt that some reasonably-organized foreign actor can just puppeteer it on a whim. Me, 20 years later: fuck

That western skin hat Super Bowl commercial is so fucking dumb. Not only is it completely devoid of iconography from actual westerns, but nobody on this earth gets picked on for liking westerns. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is one of the only ‘60s movies zoomers will actually watch.

I guess it’s safe to say Trump won’t be ending any wars on day one

So close to nuking my X account and uninstalling the app. Every time I check it, I’m amazed by what I see. Republicans crying about black people singing the national anthem, saying Trump is awesome for… attending a football game, acting as if Swift being booed means something politically. Bleh!

The Return is scary, brutal, inherently experimental… yet oddly beautiful and touching? It’s really just perfect. More than worthy of being the last thing Lynch ever did.

I am so fucking seated. This better get into theaters.
