Going to a seminar about bats at the local library tomorrow and I’m getting a new library card. Libraries are amazing places and need our support now, more than ever! Look up the schedule of your local one, you might find something really fun to attend!

Just came in at the library… a serendipitous read for a looooooong bus ride while chaperoning a high school trip overnight & out of state 😬🚌 “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins 📚 #BookSky #LetThem #LetMe #LibraryBook

“Barring AP journalists... because of the news agency’s editorial decisions is an affront to the First Amendment and a free press,” said PEN America's Tim Richardson. “It is retribution, plain & simple, & a shameful attempt to bully the press into ideological compliance.” (gift link) wapo.st/4jRK2VQ

Multi-level barrage of US book bans is "unprecedented," says PEN America Censorship at local to federal level recalls past authoritarian regimes "but this has never all happened at once," says PEN America's Jonathan Friedman. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... #bannedbooks #notahoax

PEN America: “Presidents should not be dictating a singular view of culture. The cultural sector must remain free from political control; that is fundamental to protecting creative freedom in a democracy.” Full statement: pen.org/press-releas...

You don’t say…

Listen, they can keep lying about USAID, but gutting the program is hurting the American Ag sector. That is the point though. Destroy American Ag to make way for other authoritarian countries to take over the market.

I feel like I’ve seen barely any discourse about this bill they are trying to pass in Oklahoma making romance novels that don’t fade to black a FELONY to publish, sell, or own. But s3xting your legal spouse will still be ok 👍🏼 www3.oklegislature.gov/cf_pdf/2025-... #BookSky #Censorship #BookBan

This is your reminder to USE YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY THERE'S BOOKS THERE AND MOVIES MUSIC PUBLIC COMPUTERS W/ INTERNET IT'S ALSO FREE

Just received an email at the college I work for about ICE on campus. Basically say, no thanks, I’m not authorized to speak to you. Let me get the administrator. Per legal: ICE administrative warrants to NOT have same enforcement authority as a judicial arrest warrant, so you don’t have to (1/2)

Keep on keeping on in the fight for our nation’s libraries, the stories they hold, and the services they provide to our communities!

PEN America: Trump Administration’s EO, 'Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling,' claims to undo indoctrination, but in fact enforces its own ideological conformity on public education and poses a serious threat to free expression in education. pen.org/press-releas...

PEN America today warned of escalating threats to an independent press after Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr announced an investigation into the practice of NPR and PBS stations airing sponsorships. pen.org/press-releas...

Just as a heads up….like the bio says, I don’t know what I’m doing here really. Just vibing for now. I lean neurospicy so starting books & finishing books are two separate activities for me 🫠 I’d love to be able to post & review books consistently, but that’s unlikely 🤓 #BookSky #ChaosReader

And the Libby by Overdrive app too!!! (my personal fave 😉) Libraries NEED your support just as much as your fave local #IndieBoosktore because libraries guarantee that EVERYONE, regardless of money, gets access to education/information/books/knowledge & more #BookSky #Libraries #ReadBooks #Books

If you believe that: 1) Reading is critical to our democracy. 2) Books help us understand complex issues. 3) Parents shouldn’t make decisions for other parents’ children. 4) Youth deserve to see themselves in books. Join the campaign to #UniteAgainstBookBans: uniteagainstbookbans.org/take-action/

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has announced that it is arbitrarily dismissing student and parent complaints arising out of public schools’ documented acts of censorship and discrimination. Our response: Book bans are real. Full statement ➡️ www.ala.org/news/2025/01...

Remember that one of the tools of authoritarian regimes is to instill confusion and panic. Do not let it throw you. Keep advocating and stay focused on your work, whatever it may be. Outrage can be a powerful tool for good, but not if it is driven by fear.

Seems like the exact right time to pull this little gem back out 🔥 Read Dangerously: The Subversive Power of Literature in Troubled Times by Azar Nafisi #BookSky #ReadDangerously #ReadBooks 1/2

I've been seeing a lot of posts about readers trying to curb their own book buying. Let me remind you of the library. Libraries can use your support now more than ever. When you checkout library books this lets funding authorities know the library is worthy of taxpayer money. 1/3 #booksky 💙 📚

Found this cool book journal/tracker at my local indie bookstore & can’t wait to start using it 😍 I 🖤 the “no pressure” aspect. Tons of book tracking pages. Hoping it turns my chaos reading a little less chaotic… By Mallory O’Meara & Brea Grant from The Reading Glasses Podcast 🤓 📚 #Booksky
