That's good, but if you're willing, you could go a step further and *not* quit. Just become really incompetent. Get in the way, "accidentally". Trip and fall during a pursuit, in a way that trips up the other officers.

The thing to do would be to fill the role of an ICE officer, but be *really bad at it*. It's tempting to quit when the job stops being what you signed up for, but they'll find a psychopath to fill your spot if you quit. You've gotta trip, you've gotta miss. "I saw her run thataway!"

It is a painful long time to wait, but things are what they are. Loved the first one, can hardly wait for this

sometimes you write yourself into a corner, and, ...well you have to end the storyline somehow

how the person's head that was thinking the thought was composed to be exactly overlapped by someone else's head, is prolly where the confusion occurs

I think you're right! That makes the comic make some kinda sense, even if it's still weird

Whatever autobiographical experience the cartoonist had that led to this strip, they aren't giving enough context for it to make *any* sense

yup. for some of these people, it's the only thing they have going for them, just being in a majority demographic. They're like cornered, wounded animals. They'll fight like hell for white cultural dominance, because it's the only shred of themselves that makes them feel better.

I was expecting them to form some kind of kleptocrat Injustice League. This is so much better

it doesn't seem like the verbal irony landed with a lot of people

Lies of P holds up! It's a blatant imitator of the soulsborne games, but it never feels like a cheap rip-off. I prefer its boss designs, honestly.

it's VERY uncomfortable

what about the mounties? they're more recent but they've got an iconic look

through pure coincidence, today I happened to learn what a "kewpie doll" was, back in the 20th century. This seems like some kind of reincarnation of that... a phoenix rising from the ashes, perhaps having learned to be less creepy.

I dunno... immediately figuring out where you fell short on a thing and doing it better seems at least as productive as moving on to another thing

All art is a conversation of minds between the creator and the interpreter... no matter to what degree, or lack of degree, the creator intends a meaning, the viewer might take it in a whole different way! that's the beauty of it

Honestly if I got paid to illustrate my incredibly specific, emotional comfort fic, I'd take the deal

i know that tests have historically been used to deter people of color from voting, but people should have to prove they have a basic grasp of civics and politics before they get to cancel out my vote

imho, the color scheme is more subtle than her, well, dialogue... if anyone was going to be tipped off, it'd be from her behavior and the things she says

How are we shipping random people off to El fucking Salvador by accident when there's a convicted felon in the White House? Do your brains not work, or do you just turn parts of them off selectively?

It does get better. The faith that you will be good at this thing someday is what carries you towards it, lets you laugh at your failures along the way. Every day, you set your eyes on a point on the horizon and start walking. Knowing that, in the future, you're already there.

i like when artists repost their work -- in this format, how else would new people see it? Or old people be reminded of it, for that matter?

why does the cartoonist regularly make the guys' heads twice as big as the ladies'? They look like monsters. They look like anglerfish pseudo-humans that prey on actual people's heads. Lure them in close, and then *glompff*

we goin from the scene where PM is pretending to be a plush doll, only to be betrayed by their bodily functions in an escalating comedy, to some fairly poignant relationship issues. It's part of why I like this comic so much.

Definitely. I'm partial to settings with a limited scope and a simple premise that go HAM on the character interactions

That would make a lot of difference. I find pizza *without* sauce to be disappointing at best. It changes the experience, for better or worse.

On paper, it would still just add up to a cheese pizza, but it sounds strangely exotic

Can they not order the weather? My headcanon's been that Clair just kind of sets her own limits on what's possible in this world. Intriguing

That's... yeah. That's a non-trivial mental drain, to be disciplined and empathetic. From a biological standpoint, it's more energy-efficient to be a reactive jackass. Thinking burns calories!

For real though... no. That stuff's fun for a while as a novelty, until you realize how corrosive it's becoming to society and the human spirit.

the first movie went over well with mainstream audiences, now they're caught in the throes of furry hubris and testing the limits

I haven't been locked into a regular job since Covid, but if it's a work email? ChatGPT uses the right words to get Human Resources' dopamine flowing. They love that shit. I love not having to talk to people trying to justify their jobs. It's a match made in heaven.

The Phases of Eris remind me of being on a long solo drive on the highway, just boring hours of your shoulders getting progressively more sore, but then your favorite song comes on the radio and you get a second wind. Hell yeah, that's my *jam*!

If it wasn't in the dead middle of winter, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have one clothing-optional holiday per year. You get to costume up for Halloween... why not balance it out?
