How cold is it in Chicago this weekend? I’m packing socks. That’s a big f’ing deal. Like really big. I didn’t for Winter Fantasy in Fort Wayne in Feb.

The one problem I have with the new Monster Manual is they removed the why for AC. It was AC 18, chainmail, shield Now it is just AC 18. We have to guess. And those early levels a free shield may matter.

When you dispute a charge from Peacock or the like with Chase or Citibank they pretty much go, “yeah those guys are assholes and you are probably right. Here is your $9 early while we look into it”. Then a week later say “you were right. Keep the $9”.

I’m not saying the new Monster Manual changed the beholder fly speed from 20ft (2014) to 40ft (2024) because I regularly whined about it… but I’ll take credit. At 20ft it’s basically unable to run away at 40ft it’s a potential chase (or trap). Also the new 5ft “walk” speed is hilarious.

Someone in one of my camping groups asked about a fish tank in an RV and I couldn’t think of a worse combination. But now I’m also thinking about a ranger with an aquarium on a cart or something.

In the new Monster Manual dragon attacks are still not magical damage. I find that odd as they are magical by nature and they can chew on high level characters all day and not hurt them.

I feel like D&D elves would take every chance to tell you about how amazing intermittent fasting was. Especially on day 3 of a dungeon crawl when you have only had hard tack for 48 hours. At least in 2024 rules.
