the expense of translating your website and maybe some of your lit into every language spoken by more than 1% of your constituency is probably worth more votes than the marginal ad spending you'd otherwise be getting with that money

multilingual campaigning should be the norm in *far* more places than it currently is, and it should be a much stronger norm in the handful of places where it actually is common to see multilingual campaigning (most common in NYC, and even there it's not common enough)

Trump and his allies telegraphed all of this before he won. He promised retribution, tumult, autocracy. He isn't doing what he's doing because he thinks it's what voters want. He's doing it because he's trying to upend the government.

Having to rebuild the ship of state over decades after one decadent term and the loss of trust on the domestic and world stages is extremely depressing for me. These weirdos unrestmaxxing, rather than molding the state to their own ends, is not a thing I'm long-term upset about.
