Probably my favourite Indy adventure, (yes, even more than the Fate of Atlantis), although this level was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to beat. (And then I had to do it again to record this video)

And today's least surprising news is... #StopKillingGames #KeepCopyingGames #KeepCrackingGames

Good to see Freelancer is so popular at the top of GOGs dreamlist. However, you don't need to wait. You can get it My Abandonware and is one of the easier games to get working on modern PCs - it installs and runs straight from the CD image. www.myabandonware.com/game/freelan...

Just in case they fuck this up, I'll leave this link here: github.com/voicemxil/TS...

Interesting video for those in the UK (and a UK government petition).

I haven't posted this here yet, but I also made a repack of the game Mortyr, a forgotten Polish FPS from 1999. It's working on modern systems with widescreen patches and CD music included. I just uploaded it on the Internet Archive: archive.org/details/Mort...

Pretty sure we dumped the family VIC-20 around then... For a C64, which stuck around until the early 90s...

The first issue of the community-made retro gaming zine reLOADED is now available! Many thanks to the contributors. If you like it please share it with others, it's free! dominuz.itch.io/reloaded Happy holidays! #retrogaming #gamingzine #retrogames

Connoisseur of classic games, or just someone whose backlog stretches back far too many years...? 🤔 (Steam Replay 2024)

I just uploaded 3.5 and 5.25 inch floppy disks of "The Colonel's Bequest" to The Internet Archive. Pristine disk images, RAW streams and beautiful 300dpi scans of all 14 disks. Have fun! archive.org/details/@dfxthomas #MSDOS #KryoFlux #RetroGaming #FloppyDisk

Still love this game. Push up the realism settings, allow no restarts, see how long I last.

Doom hit at exactly the right moment for me. Kids trading floppy disks with games your parents would be aghast at. The slim but ever present fear of a computer virus infecting your computer. Realizing that you could build upon the game to make your own thing. We had it good back then, right?

It's a great day for flying.

Stop buying remasters, it’s bad for game preservation.

Name a game you have 100+ hours in. Amazing how many hours can be lost trying to get the perfectly modded game rather than playing the actual game...

You knew it was going to be good when you saw this.. #3dfx

PPG GOTY 2024, part 7/59. The best shooters better than COD! There’s something about using real war settings for killing humans as fun that will always feel wrong to me. This collection gives plenty of other options. www.pressplaygaming.net/articles/202...

#DOSember The mid 90s saw First-Person Shooters move away from the arrow keys for movement, to WASD, most likely popularized by Quake in 96. For some reason, 1995's Terminator: Future Shock's default "A, Left Shift, Z, X" didn't catch on...

You can get a free copy of both Breathedge and Dark Sector right now #FreeGame #PCGaming #Gaming

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault open source remake gets a first Beta release

Just saw a comment on YouTube about treating your Backlog as more of a wine cellar. Add things you want and then peruse it for a game to suit your mood. And I suddenly feel so much better 😅

As it happens, the only two consoles I own. Does that mean I have to by a new one now?

Windows 95 setup was three programs in a trench coat, Microsoft vet reveals

Introduce yourself with four video games!

Half-Life 2 has been updated for its 20 anniversary. Fixes, new bonus content, and even incorporated its expansions into the base game. It is also FREE right now, so if you still haven't played it for some reason, the time is *now*. store.steampowered.com/app/220/Half...

Btw, since we're all on a new network now, if you have a video or an article about something that relates to DOS gaming, tag your linked post with #DOSGaming. I'll eventually find it, watch/read it, and repost it.

In July 2006, Microsoft discontinued support for Windows 98, 98SE, and ME. In 2011, they switched off the Windows Update service for those operating systems completely. Thankfully, it's back thanks to a community effort! So let's try it out... youtu.be/u3M87bfnyuI

Unreal (1998) still holds up pretty well! And you know what else? Epic gave the green light to the Old Unreal site to host the Unreal and Unreal Tournament. How awesome is that?!

GOG announce that they're launching the GOG Preservation Program – classic games that GOG has improved, with a commitment of their resources to ensure compatibility with modern systems and make them as enjoyable to play as possible. www.gog.com/en/gog-prese...
