We had a lot of arcade ports on tape back then, despite the downgrade in graphics etc. they were very popular. The arcades weren’t as accessible for many of us, and too expensive.

I've been considering MX Linux for an old laptop that was struggling with Windows 10.

I've been running Mint & Ubuntu on a couple of old computers that can't run Win 11 and the performance feels like getting a new computer again.

If they like Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition is worth a look. Also, I'd recommend Star Fox Adventures and SSX 3.

They’ve just pulled the files needed to run it in ScummVM. I really think they should include the source image with all releases so you can choose how to run it.

What troubles me is the constant framing of games only mattering if they generated economic activity. It’s more important to see games as the cultural artefacts they are. No-one playing games cares about the graphs, but we do care about the our cultural heritage, hence the response to all this.

If they cared about games, you'd be playing the game Chris Roberts and Digital Anvil envisaged it would be (not that Freelancer is a bad game).

256 colour version was one of my first PC games, I could not believe how good the graphics looked at that time. Still holds up well today, in my opinion.

Is that Bermuda Syndrome? I recall something like that making me laugh when I installed it not too long ago.

There needs to be a bigger modern embrace of it being okay to enjoy flawed media, as personal experiences factor *largely* into it. It's the experiences that matter most, so people need to be sharing those instead of doing a retro review of graphics/sound/gameplay.

Spent many hours playing these, and agree, World Class was also my favourite. Also enjoyed their bowling game, 10th Frame, which appears to reuse some elements of the Leaderboard games.
