Too many people on here think it is fine to fight racism with counter racism and sexism with counter sexism. It’s not, go look in the mirror and stop being the worst kind of hypocrites

Trump appeasing Putin with pressure on Ukraine, Biden tells BBC www.bbc.com/news/article...

Of course, a lot of US posters on here seem to want to make raising tensions between 2 nuclear armed states all about the US and Trump. Have you learned nothing? The world doesn’t revolve round you. You don’t ‘control’ everything. Last thing the world needs is Team ‘Murica right now.

Today’s Russian papers on Russia's economic problems: “Russians braced for unprecedented rise in utility bills”, “Saudi Arabia ready to reduce oil prices to $50. That threatens Russia with budget cuts” & “Russian authorities triple budget deficit forecast.” #ReadingRussia

VARNEY: Are you advising the Europeans to ditch their climate programs? ENERGY SECRETARY CHRIS WRIGHT: Absolutely ... everything they're doing is not having any meaningful impact on global greenhouse gas emissions

In recent days Moscow and Pyongyang finally confirmed that North Korea had sent troops to fight for Russia against Ukraine (in Russia’s Kursk region). Time to recall what Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko told me last October when I raised the issue.

It doesn’t sound like Russia’s ready to end the war. One Russian paper today: “A ceasefire doesn’t mean we abandon our objectives anytime soon…it’s possible N.Korean soldiers will play a part in routing Ukraine's army.” Plus, Sergei Lavrov’s (long) list of conditions. #ReadingRussia

A few thoughts about Vladimir Putin's three-day May ceasefire.

More conditions? One Russian paper this morning: “For Moscow it’s crucial to secure a many-fold reduction in the size of the Ukrainian army & a major reconstruction of the Ukrainian political system.” #ReadingRussia

Russia’s government paper: “It’s practically a foregone conclusion the US will pull out of Ukraine talks.” Another paper: “The unity of the West is gone. Geopolitically it’s no longer an alliance. Trumpism has destroyed the Atlantic consensus confidently & quickly.” #ReadingRussia

In one of today's Russian papers a Kremlin hawk, known for his anti-Western rhetoric, calls for cooperation with America. What we learn from Nikolai Patrushev’s interview to Kommersant. #ReadingRussia

Moscow seems pleased. One Russian paper today: “Soviet leaders’ dream of driving a wedge between the European part of Nato & the US has come true.” Another: “Trump is destroying the world created by US liberals…the changes in the global system serve [Russia’s] interests.” #ReadingRussia

A Russian court has convicted hairdresser Anna Alexandrova of spreading “false information” about the Russian army & sentenced her to 5 years 2 months in a penal colony. We featured her case last year in this report about denunciations. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

A good latest ‘in depth’ from the BBC. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

No hint of compromise in today’s Russian press. On the prospects for peace in Ukraine, one paper declares: “Trump is in a hurry…Russia is in no hurry for a deal.” Another paper says Vladimir Putin’s demands “have barely changed” from the ones he issued last June. #ReadingRussia

Posting this a day late, but some clues here to Russia’s strategy on Ukraine & relations with the US. One Russian paper writes about the “de-Ukrainization” of US-Russian ties. Plus, find out who says this: “As a Russian patriot, I voted for Trump.” #ReadingRussia

The Kremlin has confirmed that Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff has landed in Russia.

Hmmmmm British man's tattoo wrongly linked to Venezuelan gang in US government document www.bbc.com/news/article...

Wonder if there'll be more gifts passing hands..? Last time Mr Witkoff met Mr Putin, the Kremlin leader gave him a portrait of Donald Trump to take back for the US president. Steve Witkoff later revealed that President Trump "was clearly touched by it."

A Russian paper says Donald Trump is “conducting affairs chaotically” & throwing "pieces of complex jigsaw puzzles into the air in the hope that when they come down they’ll form a more sensible picture. Not all will.” Another paper predicts that on Iran “Trump risks another failure.” #ReadingRussia

Russian state TV's weekly news review leads with Putin meeting China’s foreign minister (“Most important meeting of the week”). Hidden message: US can't split Russia from China. Trump’s tariffs very low down the bulletin (1hr 50min). But then again, no tariffs put on Russia.

Keep downplaying the protests at your own peril. Keep threatening Americans. The protests will only get bigger. Trump is hated. Musk is hated. The political winds have shifted. People are fed up. This is only the beginning.

Biggest gasbag and gaslighter of all time.

HAPPENING NOW: The worldwide "Hands Off!" rallies are already underway at Trafalgar Square in London 👇🏻

We've gone from Russian newspaper headlines declaring "US & Russian officials are talking the same language" to one Russian paper accusing the White House of "administrative insanity." So, where exactly is the US-Russia roller coaster heading..? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Does he think we should be grateful?

According to one Russian paper today a Kremlin envoy “praised Donald Trump for imposing import tariffs.” Another warns: if the tariffs “result in a global recession this will have a very negative effect on Russia” & says Trump “lives by the principle Every day’s a Party”. #ReadingRussia
