Poignant post, but we have to grapple with the fact that the majority of voters rejected what we were offering. We have to come to terms with this and address their needs and desires. Nothing is gained by dismissing the majority of our fellow citizens as deplorables

Sorry, Fred, but it IS a mandate. A frigging huge mandate. T won EVERY swing state, the majority of women (despite the assumed silver bullet of abortion), White men, more Black men Hispanics, and immigrants. The people are not buying what the Dems are selling and they don't get it.

The art of politics is compromise. The public wants strong immigration laws, and it is critical that these senators keep their seats. I give them a pass on this vote.

We lost the House, the Senate, the White House, every swing state, women (in spite of abortion), the Supreme Court, workers, minorities... And we lost to the most deplorable candidate in US history. What is important to remember is that the American people are not buying what the Democrats...

You assume that the law will impede Trump's actions. I fear that we are about to learn that he is not only above the law, he IS the law. (And it's what the majority of American voters want.)
