I managed a few little free libraries for a public library. Keep the content fresh and the outside looking good and you'll have no trouble maintaining interest. Great idea to brainstorm activities with a local business! We had one at a popular ice cream stop. They helped by keeping it neat for us.

Zelenskyy did exactly what you are supposed to do with a bully - Stand up to them and call out their bs. Every other world leader should do the same. Same goes with the press. Gloves off.

If they've got a donation jar, drop some cash in. It helps.

Oh God, no. But I can see it happening. There's no bottom.

This librarian HATES the "smell of old books." It means mold and other nasty stuff. They infect the books around them, so they are hauled off the shelf to be cleaned or replaced. No book should smell like that.

Lol, please no. We had to keep the SI swimsuit issue at the front desk to stop it from ending up in the men's room. 😂

Retired librarian here. Very happy to see all the library love - just remember that electronic services like Libby are expensive, so speak up to support your library at budget time.

Same old story. People have been doing that since the first public library. Librarians know about the "hot topics" and keep an eye out. It's a pain. For a while it was the police exam prep book that walked on a regular basis. 😂

It never pays to piss off a person who is articulate and knows how to do their research. And that's a librarian, folks.

He must have been admitted under DEI.

People seem to think all the electronic offerings are "free." They are not. A best selling novel in Libby costs about 4 times as much for a hardcover version - for limited access. Hoopla prices are crazy. And you sure do get some stinkers in the hoopla collection.

Go away, troll.

If you start a lending program, make sure you have a really good liability release form and some good insurance. Public libraries can't operate without them.

This was on display when we visited a few days ago. You never know what you'll find. Love that place.

Sorry. So sorry. Currently not proud of my country. Also embarrassed.

Please remember that your library pays for these very expensive services and support the library at budget time so they can continue to provide access for you.

Would it help if I said we respect the sharks more?

Please bring your concerns to the director. They probably already know there's a problem, and maybe able to tell you how they are working toward a solution. If not, well they need to know so they can begin looking for options.

Please remember that your local library pays for Libby - and it isn't cheap. Support your local library at budget time.

Many libraries need more space. It took me 13 years to get an addition built. In another library, I wrote a grant for individual quiet study pods. Kids belong in the library too - perhaps you should ask your local library if they have any plans for a quiet study area.

The loan period is usually 21 days - I was referring to the limits imposed on the library by Libby. Often we can only purchase a book for 26 circulations or 2 years, whichever comes first. So in a best case scenario, 26 people get to read that book before the library's rights to it expire.

For Libby, each library selects and pays for the titles it wants to offer. Most of the time the purchase is really a limited time lease. Expensive, but worth it to make materials more accessible. Support your local library at budget time.

Can we also add people who attempt to ban books?

If I'm correct, the orange twat once referred to "shithole countries." Never thought he aspired to use these so called sorts of places as a model for his own country. It's embarrassing to be an American these days.
