It’s because there is an NBA Finals game tonight. The networks are just not having these things on the same night.

You mean they’re talking about the thing that happens to every good team eventually?

Like, come on now. Words have meaning. Our industry cannot be so afraid to be called biased that we lose our dedication to fact.

Where in that article did he say that?

That is an entirely different conversation. All I am doing is asking that we differentiate between reasons and excuses.

Reasons and excuses are not the same thing. If a tariff adds to the wholesale cost of something, that is a REASON to raise the retail price commensurately and it is justified. If a retailer uses tariffs as an EXCUSE to raise prices in excess of that, it’s GOUGING.

Ok but what does it make the shirt look like?

If they raise their prices excessively, it’s not BECAUSE of tariffs. The tariffs are just an EXCUSE to be greedy. See the difference?

There is a big difference between “raising prices BECAUSE of tariffs” (your original post), and “using tariffs as an EXCUSE to GOUGE consumers”. These two things are not at all the same.
Words matter. That’s my point.

The key word here is EXCUSE. The other key word in his statement was GOUGE.

My point was not about what they will or won’t do.

I don’t like these people either, but that’s not what he said. Threatening companies whose tariffs as an EXCUSE to GOUGE consumers is actually good.

I don’t know where the line is. But a trademark owner will always go after the low-hanging fruit: they might not be able to stop Chinese counterfeits, but you’re not in China. And making a t-shirt is not the problem. Selling it is.

The first thing to do is make sure you understand what is and isn’t legal with regard to copyright and trademark laws and whatnot before trying to make money off it. 😉
