Do you guys have Too Good To Go where you are? Via an app, you can reserve a box of nearly expired products at nearby supermarkets and cafés for like $4. It's a bit of a crap shoot what you're going to get... but that's the fun of it

Cabbage for 0.79! That IS a great price!

Exactly! These mega-prisons didn't just appear! They were funded long before, privately I'll bet.

That's why we're here, right?

Why not just fine American companies for going off shore? Fine drop-shippers for reselling stuff from China (like Amazon).

A.) We're driving. And B.) If I'm going to travel to a fascist state, at least I'll go to the one with great food and wine 🍷.

True. Was planning to go to see my sister in Florida. We're going to Italy instead.

How they do it as this: your taxes do not go into this one big bank account that they use to pay federal 'bills' with it. Your taxes get put in various investment funds. They also invest in these funds. The more you pay, the more they win.

We will try to negitiate like (*cringe*) adults. Then re-shuffle the deck to make trade agreements with non-US countries.

The weather in the winter can be bleak, gray and damp with only about 6 hours of light per day… but the summers lately are lovely… light from 6am to 11pm and temps in mid-high 70s. I’ve been a US expat for 26 years and it’s the best thing I ever did!

We call them American refugees.

True. Also Alicante and Bilbao in Spain. We’re seeing a lot of expats here in Holland too.

Shouldn’t he just mandate that American companies immediately return manufacturing to US soil?
comment in response to post
Shouldn’t this guy be mandating that ALL American companies return their manufacturing to American soil first? It’s the US’s own fault they are making countries like China and India rich… just to get their products made cheaper. Even Reece’s are not made in the US!! 😱😱

The EU is Tesla’s most profitable market. They have the infrastructure for EVs. He’s losing the market share daily.
comment in response to post
Actually its the US’s own fault for sending its manufacturing offshore in the first place ! Shouldn’t the US be ramping up their manufacturing industries on US soil while reducing off-shore manufacturing first? But heck, I’m just a 60yo housewife. What do I know?

Someone asked me how old my kids (22&23) were. I said “old enough for them to blame their parents for all their problems.” She said “daughters? Oh that never stops!”

The Swedish Polestar is taking over as the new must-have EV here in Europe. Tesla sales are plummeting.

You have to see it from afar: I got that view when I became an expat 27 years ago. American ‘patriotism’ is a facade and really creepy when you think of it. The US has the infra (railways, roads, etc) of a 3rd world country. Of course there’s non existent universal healthcare, vacations, pensions.

💯 agree! I live in the EU and have ditched most of the American services in favor of EU based services. Definitely no Amazon/Bezos owned, Meta, Netflix, AirB&B, Uber). It was easy to do.

Yes! I lost my 401k because of that trans-track and field athlete!! (*sarcasm*)

You are 💯 correct! My 60yo highly educated MAGA sister is blaming the inherited Biden economy. My question to her was : “if it was so bad before, shouldn’t it be getting BETTER not WORSE???”

News in the EU says his entourage literally went door to door in Nuuk to find someone willing to talk to him. Everyone said “No!”.

Don’t forget about strip mining it for ‘rare earth minerals’.

True story! That’s what we’re hearing here in the EU. JD is saying Denmark is not doing well for Greenland but the truth is Greenland DOES NOT want to give up their Universal Healthcare and 6 weeks vacations every year.
comment in response to post
The news here in the EU was his entourage literally went door to door in the capital of Greenland asking if anyone wanted to talk to JD and his wife. Everyone said “No!”. Greenland does not want to be part of the US!!
