We could have had nice things

Republicans seem to have completely forgotten about the first amendment

We are in this difficult transition from a good economy to a bad economy

one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much

The President of the United States confessed that he has no respect for national borders or sovereignty. Egged on by the richest man in the world he expressed broad imperialist plans to take over two sovereign nations. Will we allow him to do this in our name?

If I could speak to billionaires quivering in fear, I would ask: Is the risk of losing some money worth sacrificing your dignity? If I could speak to Republican politicians, I would ask: Is the risk of losing an election worth being remembered as a coward?

This is so dangerous. It’s going to kill people. It HAS killed people. It’s killing people right now. I cannot believe this

Again, this should be the end of it, & the fact that we’re tolerating it is both a massive national security crisis & a massive constitutional crisis. Maybe nothing ever mattered, but I don’t think that’s actually true, & one wonders why we are so deeply unserious now. bsky.app/profile/mcop...

"The quiet and depressive resignation of January has exploded into vast organic anger as spring nears and the daffodils poke through the chilly soil. And it’s very different indeed than the Resistance movement of 2017." - Tom Watson www.democracydocket.com/opinion/rage...

Again, he keeps doing this & again, it is obscene while 🇷🇺 is illegally occupying 20% of 🇺🇦’s territory, & again, it violates both our NATO treaty commitments & the UN Charter, & again, it should immediately end his presidency today.

I hope you read, really consider its implications, and share it widely. "It is often said: When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. If that is true, then only weeks into Donald Trump’s four-year term, we are approaching tyranny."

so if I have this straight, the stock market hitting record highs under Biden was thanks to Trump, but the stock market tanking thanks to Trump's policies is Biden's fault. Do'kay!

If you live in Louisiana and you care about this man being disappeared for protesting, you should be lining up your people in Jena today.

re the previous repost: if they can disappear permanent residents they can disappear citizens

[stares in Sally Hemings]

Democrats, You don't need presidential aspirations to lead. You don't need the establishment's approval You don't need to have all the answers People are anxious for the future of our country. Fearful for the fate of democracy. Angry at the oligarchs and their insatiable greed Step up and lead.

We are all in the debris field of a SpaceX mishap

Calls for mandatory death penalty for anyone who murders a police officer. Dems loudly and vocally yell about Jan 6th and Capitol Police

Trump and Vance just made Zelensky one of the most popular leaders in the world.

This guy is not a strongman. Hes weak, he postures, that’s it.

I’ve been seeing a lot of “we f*cking told you so” and a lot of “they’re in the FAFO phase” and a lot of “welp this is it we’re done” and “there is no law anymore” a lot of doom & gloom.. I have seen a lot gloating and alot of apathy.

If they truly believed they were saving America they'd be celebrating in the streets, not canceling town halls and hiding from their constituents.

Speaking of "intent of the Framers," we don't have to guess what they'd think about the Secretary of War saying he's going to use the enormous standing army to break the law.

another thing every other president in history would be impeached for just happened

Really good piece. Other Democrats in power need to look at what AOC is doing right now and follow her example. One of the worst and most frightening aspects of this moment is seeing how many Dems in leadership roles seem resigned to defeat.

Watch this clip, folks 👇 Does Bannon sound like he's joking about Trump becoming dictator for life? Because he isn't.

It’s been apparent for a ling time that there’s no possible way Trump leaves office again willingly. The plan is for him to some day die in office, and nothing Republicans have done since inauguration day suggests they’ll oppose this in any meaningful way.

The real "us vs them" isn't Democrat vs Republican, or American vs Illegal Immigrant, or white vs black (unless you're just a racist).

Are people finally waking up? The real fight isn’t about bathrooms or drag queens—it’s about who holds power & at whose expense. Culture war is just a distraction, keeping working people too busy fighting each other rather than noticing who’s actually robbing us blind: billionaires—not each other!

AND ALSO THERE'S A COUP

I've been thinking this for some time too, @sifill.bsky.social. sherrilyn.substack.com/p/democracy-...

aging well, sadly

It's a coup.

Still can’t stop thinking about the binary nature of American elections, a few hundred thousand votes in three states all the distance between just normal stuff and armed officers keeping House reps out of the department of education and a guy named Big Balls canceling everyone’s Medicare

In the midst of all this chaos it’s important that we lean into community, we speak truth to power, call out bullshit when we see it, and we do so utilizing the skills, talent, networks, and access we have at our disposal.

You are MEMBERS OF CONGRESS. If they threaten you with arrest for trying to access a site you are lawfully entitled to access, YOU MAKE THEM FUCKING ARREST YOU. YOU MAKE THEM SLAP THE CUFFS ON A CONGRESSMAN LIVE ON TV, YOU MAKE THEM FUCKING DO IT.

NEW reporting from @juddlegum.bsky.social on Elon Musk's takeover of our federal government. Musk’s OPM associates have gained "unprecedented access to federal human resources databases containing sensitive personal information for millions of federal employees." www.muskwatch.com/p/musk-assoc...

At what point do we start calling what Elon Musk is doing inside our government a coup
