Ep.147 Hey, you, yes you! Stop reading about Dragons and Clans. Didn't you know that the current set is all about vroom-vrooms?! We talk about Vehicles, Teams, Planes and Brackets, check it out. #mtg #vorthos open.spotify.com/episode/0N2p...

I worry sometimes that this gets lost in the jokes and bits that I post, but I earnestly really love Magic's fiction. The folks who contribute to fleshing out the game's worlds and characters do so with such obvious care and effort. We're spoiled, frankly, but I'm genuinely grateful for it

Before #MTGTarkir story starts up tomorrow… Thunder Junction had the first year Kellan arc pass off to the second year Jace arc. Who will be the third year arc's focus? Take the hint. #Vorthos

Oh look, yet more mtg that's not Tarkir...great

Took a little flutter on a collector booster as a payday treat, and it wasn't bad at all! Obviously pretty spicy power/value but not enough is said of that #VolkanBaga Edgar art and #NilsHamm went unnecessarily hard with the creepy on the Colossus #mtg

Its fascinating to see how much more mtg players expect from lore/mtg story these days. Some backlash for Tarkir is around the Clan design and the off screen story beats between blocks. Did people have this reaction in 2012 when RTR released, and the Guild designs were refined down?

Monday morning crowd! In case you missed all the hooting and hollering, the new season of FRIDAY NIGHTS is here! youtu.be/sWJB8q6TOgw

Finally settled on my non-combo (still a little cracked) Orvar Deck! Tried to vere away from Orvar staple spells, and I quite like how it's play tested so far. Cheers to everyone who helped me with ideas. #edh #mtg moxfield.com/decks/Jgwr7i...

New lands for my Archangel Avacyn #edh deck. Innistrad Remastered, with it's Avacyn's Collar Set symbol is absolutely perfect. Even more so when themed against the SOI set symbols inverted collar, telling the story of the tragic Angel, and this card in particular, perfectly.

As an #mtg flavour podcast, we have recorded hours and hours of discussion on the impact UB is having on the game at large. The trend is always that I'm very much against, Nathan is often more forgiving. 1/2

Once Nathan returns to the Northern Hemisphere, we will be pitching teams for next years Gran Prix in our next Ep! If you could choose 3 Vehicles from across magic and a Captain to build your team, what would you choose? #mtgaetherdrift #mtg

You, and your three favourite cards from your favourite Magic: The Gathering set. I know its basic, but RTR block has such a hold over my formative years in magic. Going with Gatecrash, as I'm an Orzhov diehard, but seriously this set was absolutely stacked! #mtg

Listen to Tim. Brackets are filling a role that was needed for the people that need it. That is, largely, not most of us who are enfranchised enough to be involved in the online community. I don't see myself ever -needing- to use it, but now the tool is there if I do need it.

I love that Caradora and Howler are fighting in their art. I wonder if there's a full piece by Mirko Failoni connecting the two.

Out of my eleven decks, three of them are 2's and the rest are 3's. Most of those 3's are due to only a couple cards that honestly could be swapped out and the integrity of the remain in tact. I def like this system more than the 1-10 metric of old. #edh

Magic story is important! The weariness for the “hat sets” demonstrates that you can’t just slap any old reference on a magic card and have people like it. People like well-built worlds and intentional storytelling. That’s part of the secret sauce that makes magic special!

I think Ive found my Orvar angle...Mono Blue Wizards! ETB effects, catrip silliness and lots of weirdy beardy Wizfolk! I've seen other Orvar decks using cards like Clockspinning and Volraths Whim for targeting, but I feel like they are very linear, so I may have to eachew convential wisdom...

As we look forward to heading back to Tarkir, do ya reckon we will explore the idea of Avatars on the Plane? We only got two, seemingly random, Avatars last time for the Dromoka and Ojutai

Worth a read, nothing overtly groundbreaking being said, whether you agree or not, but it does articulate some broader feelings some have had #mtg #vorthos www.wargamer.com/magic-the-ga...

Oh my gosh, would you look at the time It's time to talk about the class of card nobody plays enough of, despite there being many stellar options at three mana or below. And WotC just printed one that has cycling?! Hopefully this article is a REVELATION for you, at this HOUR Ahem

i think the way that alquist proft's card expresses his abilities in the story is so cool. turning a single clue into a sphinx's rev is exactly what understanding the whole story from a single piece of evidence looks like.

Want to catch up with a familiar face, or get up to speed with who's in the race? The Legends Of article is now out! magic.wizards.com/en/news/feat...

Kev Walker will (likely, hopefully) break 500 illustrations for Magic this year. he's worked on the game consistently for nearly 30 years. it's probably not hyperbole to say that if you've played Magic at any point in the game's history, you'll have played with a card illustrated by Kev Walker.

Ok, I think my search for a mono bkue deck has kead me to somethung maybe not so niche, but still very interesting. Who has some ideas for an Orvar the All Form deck that isn't the usual totally cracked combo fare? Is there such a deck?

Cool. Haven’t even been here for 24 hours and I already feel like I’m being lazy and unproductive. I LOVE what modern technology has done to my brain. YUP! 🙃 A reminder for you (and me) that it’s really, truly ok, and healthy, to take breaks. To just let yourself do nothing. That’s actually normal.

For any new friends/folks/followers, hi! We're Andy and Nathan, two Vorthos who have spent the past 4 years prattling on about Magic: The Gathering. If you like your lore chat deep and philosophical, with a sprinkling of hyperbole and nonsense (and a charming english accent) then check us out!

Re-watching DS9 from the beginning. The first 2 seasons are no where near as bad as other Trek debuts, some duds, but over all really strong. Damn I love this show!

Ep.146! Check your oil, tape over the blinking engine light and give the tires a kick or two, because it's time for the #MTGAetherdrift story review! @arsenaultrivera.bsky.social revs up the action whilst also delivering a story of folk reclaiming their identity. open.spotify.com/episode/4MHP...

This set review is a chonker, because there was a LOT to talk about. Give it a gander or save it for later, but if you have some thoughts on the cards in the set then let's chat in the comments. Mechanically the set seems like it has a lot to offer beyond niche Max Speed decks.
