They are deliberately crossing the red lines, in order to make the unacceptable commonplace and, eventually, acceptable again.

Being able to place a point on a map in Amsterdam & then safely cycle there in comfort with my child due to the infrastructure that is in place feels amazing right now. However this is the way it should be, astounding that back in the UK councils like Hackney push against these safe road layouts.

In journalism it's important to reflect both sides, listen, understand nuance,be aware of your bias It’s also important to call out facts that aren’t true Trump suggested Ukraine started the war with Russia That is not true.Facts matter. If you want to end a war,you need to face up to how it started

I would like to see a few British broadcasters read out every word of Trump’s latest ‘statement’ live on air & then remind us of their often lavish statements of support for him & then share some of their supportive words for Ukraine. And then we can all watch their brains explode…

Pretty disturbed by some of the Kremlin framing on the Trump talks being bought by parts of the media worldwide. It’s as if the genesis of the war is entirely forgotten. This isn’t a conflict which needs mediation. It was an unprovoked act of aggression. It could end tomorrow if Putin just withdrew.

We're shocked by Trump and Musk's antics because we judge them against the idea that governments should serve the people. But they have no such intention. Government for them is simply about seizing power and wealth. Let's stop being shocked, and build a global, democratic counter-movement.

Know the light is fading but it's not easy to tell the teams apart

I'm sorry but if these two are not cast in the real-life version then there is no justice and the entire cinema system is forever broken...

Charing Cross Road, pedestrianised today. Glorious. Because whenever you take cars away, cities get better.

YouGov find just 30% of people think we were right to leave the EU. The lowest number yet. Just 10% of 18-24 year olds think it was the right decision.

The biggest question raised here must be: who on earth is choosing to drive in London, the city with by far the best public transport system in Britain? me in the Guardian on the most congested city in Europe, apparently

You can see the exact moment when #Switzerland decided ramming highways into its cities was a stupid idea. This is the Autobahnstummel, the "highway stub," for a huge expressway, one of 3 that was supposed to enter heart of Zürich. Killed by popular referendum in 1973. 🧵

So a new dawn begins over here. Let’s hope this place doesn’t descend into the same grim hellscape the ‘other’ one did.
