She is so good, and I am thrilled with all of the attention she's been getting. Leonard Marcus has been a big champion of Millions of Cats. I'd love to see more of her work enter the discussion of historic books.

It's so much fun! Everyone has so much to add, and I learn a lot. Kidlit community is the so generous with thoughts and book suggestions! #kidlitchat

I've already imposed the pressure! It's April 9th. The topic is "Who let the grow-ups in? Adult Protagonists in Picture Books": www.scbwi.org/events/booki... #kidlitchat

I read her tree book to my daughter tonight--and we definitely have the Krauss book! I used it with my undergrads last month. #kidlitchat

Me too! Though responding to a suggestion like this is also how I ended up hosting an online picture book club for SCBWI--so maybe I need to be careful what I suggest if I want to preserve my writing time! #kidlitchat

One did guess 3 days! Time is so random for children--I don't know how they measure it (not coffee spoons!). I suspect 3 days is how long it would take a teacher to turn their work into a book. Whenever we have these conversations I think of Julie Morstad's excellent #picturebook TIME IS A FLOWER.

I love these lists--and we have some of the Caldenotts already! And I've loved Travis Yonker's annual list of unconventional picture books--so many gems, and now Betsy Bird has taken it over #kidlitchat

School Library Journal also has @fuse8.bsky.social's end of year lists including the CaldeNOTTS--books that should have been considered but weren't eligible #kidlitchat

we're pretty spread out. But my local kidlit authors have gone bowling recently, and are planning a potluck #kidlitchat

Just an FYI that tomorrow at 9pm we are going to have our second #pbchat book club discussion - of Monica Arnaldo’s great MR. S. #kidlitchat

Simon Sort of Says by Erin Bow was hands down my favorite mg novel of 2024. I sent a copy to my oldest (duration not years!) friend, because it feels like one of those children's books everyone could love #kidlitchat

City of Spies was a huge hit at our house--it's great to find new mg series! #kidlitchar
