It's Nice To Be Disliked (By One Of Those)

Elon’s busy schedule today is claiming astronauts were left in the ISS for political reasons, getting corrected by an ISS astronaut, throwing a fit where he calls the astronaut a slur, then complaining that we should deorbit the ISS

The lab group of Prof. Melissa Bop, Penn State University, is doing a research study on cargo bike users in North America. If you are a cargo bike user and have a minute to take the survey they’d love to hear from you: pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_... @cathytuttle.bsky.social

The notion that Trump's "I'm king" tweet is "just trolling" or "a joke" presents an opportunity to recreate my just-joking thread (porting it over from the Bad Place): 1. I wrote my PhD dissertation on the social function of humor (in literature & film) and here's the thing about "just joking."

This is why the Tesla boycott/divestment strategy can work where others have failed. If we can move Tesla stock, we can wipe out a huge amount (if not all) of Elon Musk's wealth. This opportunity is too important not to pursue all-out. #TeslaTakedown

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”

Storm chips obtained. Actual Storm Chips were sold out so I had to compromise.

📌I was gobsmacked Monday when one of my white “friends” on Facebook started an openly racist thread complaining about the Super Bowl’s halftime show. 📌At one point she raged, “THERE WERE NO WHITE PEOPLE IN THE SHOW!” 📌To which I responded: “So inclusion really does matter to you.” -My latest ...

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Granville Woods invented numerous railroad systems that are still in use today, including an electrical system trains use to communicate their location and avoid collisions. #BlackHistoryMonth

HOUSING HOMELESS FOLKS SAVES MONEY IN FINLAND: “a recent study showed the savings in emergency healthcare, social services & the justice system totalled as much as €15,000 a year for every homeless person in properly supported housing.” It works AND it saves money. Doing nothing is expensive.

Doug Ford wants you to believe he's not a politician. Voters should grant him that wish and send him back to making stickers. youtube.com/shorts/4nzD_...

Now they want to rename Greenland to be “Red, White and Blue Land” and yes this is the dumbest timeline.

Every city needs these!

Government spending is the reason you know who Elon Musk is. #WelfareQueen

If low density areas of the city resist upzones, I think it’s time we stop distributing city resources based on geography instead do it per capita so that areas that are denser get more resources: more local schools, more library hours, lifeguards & parks staff, sidewalks, nicer street lighting…

Really good post from @michaelwaters.bsky.social . defector.com/the-trans-sp...

What’s his beef against USAID in particu….oh. Wow.

$48 million to have little to no positive effect on traffic speed while increasing the risk to cyclists. What a great plan *sarcasm font*

The text on the front banners say 'We are the Firewall'. Massive demo in Berlin today against right-wing extremism.

“While Mayor, I was often asked ‘how have you been able to afford bike-lanes in #Copenhagen?’ I’d reply, ‘how have you been able to NOT afford it? 25 years ago we were a few days away from going bankrupt. So the city invested in the cheapest infrastructure… bicycling.’” — @mortenkabell.bsky.social

It cost taxpayers an additional $612 million so Premier Doug Ford could expand booze sales in time for his early Feb. 27 election, a fiscal watchdog has found.

Every safety regulation was written in blood, frequently with a body count higher than one, and it’s not political to put the blame on people who want to “move fast and break things” when they start breaking human lives.

#BikeTO As I ride home along the protected cycling infrastructure on Bloor St; I’m behind a parent with two kids in the front of their e-cargo bike; I ask myself, what elected rep says a drivers ability to have more street space supersedes prioritizing the safety of three vulnerable road user?

It's been 3 weeks since Congestion Relief Zone tolling went into effect, and the program is working! We're seeing traffic move quicker into and within Manhattan, which benefits all New Yorkers—drivers, bus riders, emergency vehicle operators, pedestrians, and more.
