i did my best (even had some help) to get clear macro shots, but its so hard with just my phone and a couple magnifying glasses "OTL i have a personal rule of not buying any camera equipment until i learn how optics/magnification works. its my only safeguard from bankruptcy 😔

toki pona/language learning has really helped me to pay attention and slow down with english, my first language, and not just plow through and miss essential nuances

i thought so, but i am not entirely sure as i am new to this 😅 they appear to continue underneath the lichen so thats my best guess

last stop, some crustose, or crust-like lichen :) they are often found on rocks, sidewalks, and other harsh environments. they are teeny tiny - too small for my camera to get any detail, even with a loupe!

next stop, we have a tiny fruiticose, or shrub-like, lichen. this one is pretty small and just getting started. it was tricky getting a clear picture while using 2 magnifying glasses and my phone camera

first stop, this foliose, or leaf-shaped lichen. they are flat, thin, and have dark undersides. you can see its rhizines peeking out at the edges, helping it stay anchored in place :)
