thats honestly why i felt iffy about "portfolio pieces" bc at least for me as a level designer, making a stand alone level doesnt feel too good..? i would like to make a game at that point so i opted to do that instead but it kind of lead to the same problem of working on my portfolio forever

honestly what ive learned is that if u wanna make your own solo game or an indie game with a small group its gonna take over a year whether u like it or not. doesnt matter what the constraints are, or the genre, or style. get ready to work on it for more than a year
