Open corruption

It works! Beyond passkeys, I can encrypt a file in the browser with typage and WebAuthn, and then decrypt it with the same YubiKey from the CLI with age-plugin-fido2prf. README: github.com/FiloSottile/ty… PR: github.com/FiloSottile/ty…

"Trump lies" was the story that needed to be written a decade ago. Now he does not merely "drive change;" he destroys democracy. #BrokenTimes In Trump’s Alternative Reality, Lies and Distortions Drive Change www.nytimes.com/2025/02/23/u...

By me @forbes.com : Beware this PayPal attack campaign that sends emails from PayPal itself making it "impossible" to detect, well, sort of. #infosec www.forbes.com/sites/daveyw...

Accidents down 55% and injuries down 51% since nyc congestion pricing (!!!) www.nydailynews.com/2025/02/22/c...

A fundamental story of the last decade is that a lot of basically incompetent people got fed up by competent people telling them they were wrong, constructed a more welcoming alternative ecosystem of competency cosplayers, and then somehow turned the whole government over to them.

Israel's Defence Minister proudly taking responsibility for the ethnic cleansing of 40,000 people in the West Bank.

What

Between the oceans and the landmass, I doubt the USA would be invaded any time soon But if I were in the invading business, hacking these emails for a quick assessment of what's going on in the government just before launching a decapitation strike seems like a no-brainer

What I did last week: - Tried to instruct DOGE personnel how to configure DKIM and SPF - Okay let’s try again - No that’s the wrong DNS record - No it’s not a fucking AAAA record - Why are you using GoDaddy for this?

This seems like a phisher's dream. Announcing that a government email is about to go out and that recipients are required to respond to it seems like the kind of thing cybercriminals would love to spoof in order to infect workers or trick them into revealing their login credentials.

Professionalism, people. Please begin your emails with: One, here comes the two to the three to the four

Never in my most pessimistic moments did I expect the response to modern biotechnology saving countless lives in a pandemic to be a powerful elite captured by a conspiracy theory and dismantling our defenses against the next one out of some misguided notion of revenge

“Their entire regime is best understood as a criminal junta whose end goal is to redirect the wealth of the nation into their own pockets. They are running a kleptocracy, and they’ve figured out that facism is actually the quickest path to riches” www.thenation.com/article/poli...

George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse are walking free! They're doing fucking speaking tours!

Daniel Penny just got a cushy job at Andreessen Horowitz specifically because he murdered a homeless man on the subway

1/ Elon Musk's forced resignation threat appears to be wreaking havoc in US Navy. "At this time, if you have received this email, DO NOT respond."

Can they both lose?

a new agency made of teenage neonazis and drug dealers is in charge of the entire government. the richest man in the world, who gave a nazi salute at the president's inauguration, says he is in charge. officially, he isn't. the government won't tell the courts who is in charge

From a FOIA perspective, "the entire federal workforce should write down and email what they did last week" is extremely funny

If you think the way the most powerful men treat their partners and families isn’t important, you’ve already fallen for their manipulation. The violence at home is part and parcel of their abuse of power

Three months ago I asked you all for suggestions about a web platform for scrollytelling, and received a host of very good suggestions. We ended up going with Shorthand.com, which we found the fastest and easiest for non-designers to use. I've posted this before, but here's the website we built.

2 fucking headlines right next to each other

This guy's Nazi factor is dialed up to 11

so then it's not a cost-cutting team, is it

Coming around to the view that a certain kind of narcissist simply needs Musk to be a genius rather than a fraud, because they want to believe there’s a hereditary Brahmin class of accomplished, beautiful minds—and that they’re a part of that class.

"The Trump administration has asked Ukraine to withdraw an annual resolution condemning Russia’s war, and wants to replace it with a toned-down U.S. statement that was perceived as being close to pro-Russian in Kyiv..."

Hey @halbfinger.bsky.social, could you or someone else at the Times explain how firing a qualified senior general “root[s] out diversity initiatives?” Which initiative specifically did this “root out?”

What if what the things they got done are classified? What if they work at a remote post with limited access to email? What if they’re stuck on the space station?

There is nothing about the officers being purged that suggests any particular political ideology or partisan affiliation, and that's why they're being purged. It's not about replacing "woke" liberals or Democrats. It's about replacing professional nonpartisan neutrals with MAGA-hatted lickspittles.

We talked to employees across the federal government about how they are resisting Musk and Trump. One of the funnier stories is from USDS, where some workers keep putting up a sign that reads "HATE HAS NO HOME HERE" after it's being taken down over night. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/u...

Seen this happen more than once already

This is horrible for the future of American science and innovation and economic wellbeing and all the things Pitt is not a small institution It has nearly 10K grad students It is where Salk discovered the polio vaccine

Interesting thing for the President to say about a person who, according the government’s lawyers, “has no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself” and “only has the ability to advise the President, or communicate the President’s directives.”
