Give it a week and Trump will threaten to drain Lake Superior if Canada doesn’t appoint a Cholesterol Czar.

Some of us consider becoming the “51st state” the high price bub.

Manitoba's Opposition Progressive Conservatives apologized to the families of four First Nations women murdered by a serial killer in 2022 for refusing to search a Winnipeg-area landfill where it's believed the remains of two of the women were taken. #mbpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

So, if I’m reading this correctly, Congress appropriated a bunch of funds for specific purposes. Musk will be throwing that out the window and disregarding the law they enacted. But individual legislators can call a hotline and beg for their pet projects to be spared. That’s how we’re doing it now.

I'm sure Elon Musk and DOGE will be on top of this. Looks like some big savings for him to put up on the receipts board!

First @ABDanielleSmith couldn't brown nose to Trump fast enough, then she flip-flopped as soon as Trump showed his true colours...and now Canada can get ready for the third act: righteous indignation that Alberta might have to sacrifice just a bit. www.reuters.com/business/ene...

On the other hand, used Teslas might be available shortly at a pretty big discount.

With the stroke of a pen, we could hurt Trump’s America to the tune of $74 billion.

The bottom line: “No sovereign country would buy ones that a bully of a U.S. president could disable on a whim.” Cancel the contract.

I genuinely thought this quote was fake and had to check. No, it's real and from a White House spokesperson.

An insane abuse of responsibility by FL's Surg. Gen. & Governor. Disclosure: Saw FL measles news, read the email sent to parents, & thought how, thankfully, FL SG Ladapo didn't issue a note like he did in a prior outbreak that was basically, "Parents: you do you." Then, sec.'s later, saw this: 1/

Donald Trump has talked of making Canada America’s 51st state, and Canadians have booed the American anthem at sporting events.

ALL HAIL THE GREAT KHAN OF THE MIDWAY, WEARER OF THE CROWNS OF SPRINGFIELD AND CHICAGO, HE WHO IS KNOWN AS THE DIVINE WHIRLWIND OF PEORIA. Now that I have your attention, referring to tariffs as "Trump's tax" is very good.

“The lesson that we learned today is that if economic pain reaches Fox News, then Trump will have to respond. That’s actually a key piece of information for all leaders and negotiators going forward.” — @stephenmarche.bsky.social on CBC today. #TrumpsTradeWar #TrumpsTariffs

Canada should just start emulating US bourbon at scale and call it that. US law protects the name “bourbon,” as an America-made booze; and so does our Spirit Drinks Trade Act. Who cares? Stop enforcing the law. Repeal it. Let the Golden Era of Great Canadian Bourbon begin! t.co/hV3a08iefO

The Convoyists draped themselves in the flag, but they were all down Facebook rabbit holes of conspiracy theories originating in the US and Russia. There was nothing inherently Canadian about the movement

In New Brunswick, we've received out property tax info for 2025, so I thought I'd look at how relative contributions for local service property taxes and prov property taxes are changing. In rural areas, local service taxes have risen while prov portion declined until around 2021. See alt text.

Grand Falls Agromart is located 3 miles from a border crossing and currently imports about 65 percent of its ingredients from the U.S.

Ford who doesn’t drink, pulls US booze from Ontario’s shelves but is gungho on Canadians still visiting the US. Recently returned from Florida, where he owns property, Ford says he’ll still go, rather suggests a US travel boycott is too big an ask. Man of the people, my ass.

Why is Poilievre following Trump's playbook?

Toxicologist: The LD50 test is helpful for assessing acute toxicity but it fails to capture the complexity of chemical toxicity, especially chronic health effects like cancer, reproductive toxicity, & ecological impacts. DDT (113 mg/kg), Caffeine (150 mg/kg), Both class 3 (toxic) - similar? - no

Canada should keep its tariffs intact--we can't dance at the end of his rope.

The episode has been damaging to US credibility, predictability of supply chains and yes corruption/and power concentration (whose lobbying works). Plus in short term one month reprieve only increases effort to maximize imports in short-term widening trade deficit

Loosening tariffs on automotive opens up to our fiscal capacity to go after our main goal: punishing Maine in particular.

Didn't take long. There's a tariff/cryptocurrency scam going round. open.substack.com/pub/ftoninde...

This from China. Shit is getting real. Remember: it's not just Canada in this fight. We have powerful global allies. Politics make strange bedfellows.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture must temporarily reinstate more than 5,000 probationary employees fired since Feb. 13, according to a ruling by the Merit Systems Protection Board.

Stop looking for logic in Trump's actions. Or coherence. Even with regard to Russia or trade. We know his broad instincts. But we also know he'll abandon almost anything if there's some upside for him.
