well it has certainly been an amusing prank to let the worst people alive take over the american government for a few weeks, but I think it's probably gone on long enough

Look, if Fox News reports this, it must be true.

Been thinking a lot about @mikeduncan.bsky.social's "great idiot of history" theory — the proposition that while Great Men rarely or never move history, a powerful individual's unique stupidity, incompetence, and disordered personality can do so.

extraordinary feat of Americanness www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Kanske?

this is like something a character in Animal Farm would say, and every 6th grader in the classroom would understand why it's wrong www.nytimes.com/2024/11/15/o...

Fan också. Jag älskar ju USA. Men samtidigt, vilket jävla land.

Maybe the best logo I’ve ever seen

Not sure we've ever seen anything like this before. The audience at Trump's Univision town hall is visibly showing their disgust over and over for Trump as he lies about January 6.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A really important aspect of Trump, on some ways the most central is that - at the sentence and propositional level - he doesn’t actually *say* anything. 90% of what he says is discursive, hedged, rhetorical questions, self-interruptions.

Sorry for the politics posting, but a friend sent me this and it really makes you think

it's great that dropbox, a service which has a very specific and limited function, is constantly sending me emails trying to get me to engage with it more. it's like if i had a bucket that could talk and it kept saying shit like "SUMMER IS HERE! I wonder how many sea turtle eggs I could hold? 👀"

A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles. Thinking about that a lot.

Imagine if she'd said no and it's not only extremely uncomfortable for everyone but the passengers have to wonder if they're about to die.

Books designed to be read only by human eyes are different from books designed to be read by machines, which is why Google will tell you that the phrase “shake my booty” can be found in an 1863 English translation of Don Quixote.

Happy “Pi Day” (March 15, or 3.15) to all the math heads who follow me!
