Arresting judges. Threatening allies. Lying about trade deals. Trying to sell campaign merch from the White House. Floating a 2028 run. Deranged. Dangerous. Undemocratic. We must retake our democracy.

This is affirmative action. They have identified a group that is underrepresented in academia, and are taking steps to make it easier for them. This is EXACTLY what affirmative action does. But I suspect I'll wait forever for any of the people clamoring for "merit"-based policies to object to it.

Well, he certainly looks a criminal

My understanding of presidential pardons is that they were traditionally granted at the end of a president's term. Trump, on the other hand, seems to be issuing them for his allies as soon as convictions happen. I know we all expect this sort of corruption, but is there precedent for such an effort?

Truly apropos of nothing, one of the most inexplicable parts of Trump Era media coverage has been the total lack of interest in his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. They were very close friends! Ghislane recruited girls AT MAR-A-LAGO. There's video of them giggling as they watch young girls dance!

I was thinking about when Facebook was new and allowed us to reconnect with old friends. And when Twitter was new allowed us to make new friends. And how fulfilling this need for human connection was something the tech overlords could manipulate to get rich enough to ruin it all.

I think we should raise the salience of this.

some dumb motherfuckers , even libs , act like the relative lack of conservative professors is a problem . but american conservatism is an anti intellectual movement! might as well ask why there’s a lack of vegan chefs in brazilian steakhouses

A look at one of the most pressing problems of 2023: the lament that "the left" wouldn't be friends with "the right," over "political views." Defining these terms and dealing with a strange spectacle: the world's most unfriendly people, demanding friendliness. www.the-reframe.com/if-you-want-...

crazy that an incorrigible drunken dipshit who has failed at everything of consequence he has ever tried is also disastrously bad at leading the single largest bureaucracy in the world

In a shocking public statement, Putin on record confessed to the Sumy missile strike that killed 35 civilians: "Is it a civilian object? Yes..."

If the agent of an embittered KGB officer somehow won the US presidency and entered into the office bent on destroying the USA in its national influence, network of alliances, and the American people’s quality of life, what would he be doing differently?

The TL never lies

DOGE is basically, "I'm saving you money on auto maintenance by stealing your car."

"No one is above the law" say people who work for the guy who is in the White House and not jail because the Supreme Court he shaped decided he's above the law.

This is his normal look, you're just remembering wrong

Great work America

Buying beer for teenagers is illegal and cool

There's a stage of democracy where the rule of law remains strong enough to be a serious deterrent to would-be authoritarians. There's a later stage where the law can only slow down the authoritarians, buying you time. And then there's the stage where the law is instrumentalized BY authoritarians.

It’s really wild how there is no reason to deport anyone, let alone children and US citizens and LPRs and students and people undergoing cancer treatment etc. it’s all a fake solution to a made up problem enacted by violent racists who are stealing from you

FUCK these fascist goons, Elon has been talking about destroying Wikipedia, fascists cant abide information sources they can't control

i feel like trumpcoin, and the fact that we never talk about it, is pretty emblematic of the way the press refuses to grapple with trump. it exists in order to pay him bribes. it expressly gives you political access. it does not pretend to have a licit motive. it was a one-day scandal.

Never making a deal but just saying "Art of the deal" for 50 years and becoming president

One of the most difficult things to convince low-info voters of is that Trump lies wildly more than any other president - and does a ton more sky-is-green lies instead of distortions. They think all politicians lie so Trump is no different. Really difficult to get them to believe the scale.

Elon Musk should be at the top of the FBI's most wanted list

nobody pollutes like Elon

An administration of failed businessman

DOGE will absolutely (on lost tax revenues alone) cost more money than any claimed savings

At last thanks to authoritarian conservative rule we are being freed from the tyranny of salmonella regulations. Make America Shit Themselves To Death Again. www.seattletimes.com/business/usd...

Removing a black 4-star general at Secretary of Defense and replacing him with a white talk-show is the perfect example why DEI is essential. It's not about hiring unqualified minorities, it’s about foiling the majority's habit of hooking up under qualified mediocrities of their own caste.

Look. I’ve always been pretty far left in my politics, but I’m not some wussy cookie-cutter “leftist.” For one thing, I’m proudly pro-salmonella! Always have been. So this is absolutely the right thing to do, and I applaud the Trump administration. www.seattletimes.com/business/usd...

Tech keeps pushing AI into use well before it's ready. It's not just the privacy issue, **the chatbot doesn't work**, and it's a not a replacement for the thousands of staff that Musk and his tech bros have pushed out of the Social Security Administration.

Can I suggest we not use people's Social Security benefits as the guinea pig for unproven AI?

Trump is a traitor and Putin's useful tool

It’s already a win for Hegseth that the conversation is around if he should resign and not if he should be jailed.

It’s incredible that now the *best case* scenario is basically Trump engaging in a humiliating climb-down, but having already inflicted permanent damage and uncertainty that never be undone.

It is soooo cool that the world's largest military is run by Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon.

Americans broadly reject Trump’s fascist, pro-billionaire agenda. He’s cooked.

No presidency has ever crashed in approval like this so quickly. Partly, voters projected their own values onto Trump and didn't believe his campaign promises. But also, Trump lied through his teeth that he wouldn't implement the incredibly unpopular, fascist Project 2025 agenda. And then he did.

Terrorist training camp

Elon Musk’s official job title at X is Chief Technology Officer.

In America only the stupidest motherfuckers in the world get to be president

The most corrupt thing a president has ever done also fucking hilarious that a man with this hair and that neck could be president

No wonder him and Trump get along so well
