I think there’s a truth to the definition of economic anxiety, in the sense that economic and anxiety are involved. The subjects believed capitalism and patriarchy, made it financially but didn’t get super-rich/dominant, so now in their own world view they are losers and beta. And they get anxious

a priori, the whole “economic anxiety leads to racist scapegoating” always seemed backwards to me. my intuition is economic anxiety would activate the parts of one’s identity that are worker-centered. economic security otoh leaves people bored & aimless and indulging their other identities

If a scientist who uses a microscope in their work never learns how to use a microscope, we find them a new career. If a scientist uses statistics in their work but never learns how to use statistics, we promote them even faster, and let them decide how other people should use statistics.
