WHY can they not just stick with a console (I know lol). I want to play Mario Kart World without having even more, unnecessary impacts on the real world. And my wallet. Lol

Per Newsweek, Trump stated it was bc the Ukraine War sanctions *rendered trade to zero*, which is not the case. Additionally, while 3 other countries were left off that are sanctioned, 2 *are* on the list (Iran and Syria).

James Surowiecki figured how the official tables' 1st column # s were calced (then halved for final tariffs). Formula is: (2024 trade deficit absolute value)÷(2024 total imports)=(1st column #) Russia should have a ~42% tariff but was left off the list. Iran & syria are listed despite sanctions.

Iran is on the list, as is Syria. Both shouldn't be, by that logic.

Trump falsely claimed that. But a viral screenshot of a tweet by a journalist claims the rates (using the Indonesian page) are the 2024 total goods trading deficit divided by the total annual imports. Except link is the data for Russia. Per the 2024 data, Russia should be on the list at 83%.

A follow-up: The numbers in this come from the 2024 trade summary on census .gov for Indonesia (same site listed in Part C Sources above). Using the same method for Russia's 2024 totals, I'm getting that they should be on the list at 83%.

Then Russia not only should be on the list (which it's NOT) but at 83%, using the 2024 trade summary on census.gov, which is where the numbers in the screenshot clearly came from for Indonesia.

If that were true, then Russia should not only be on the list (which it suspiciously is NOT) but should have been listed at ~83% (using the 2024 totals on census.gov, which this person clearly did for Indonesia).

I'm confused bc - by that math, which is clearly using the 2024 trade summary from census.gov - Russia should not only be on the list but be ~83%
