it should be asked how he even had the ability to do that

If you have a device that CAN run Apple Intelligence you need to turn this off as well as the general Apple Intelligence setting. Settings > Screen Time > scroll down to Content and Privacy > turn on Restrictions > Intelligence and Siri > turn off the first three options

you can tell the people trying to gut the government have never had a real job because they landed on "one micromanaging email" as the thing that would break regular people

By accepting Trump’s anti-Black premise and regurgitating the narrative that equates anything Black as DEI, the NY Times has become part of the propaganda machine

Great thread about comedy and politics by one of the most hilarious comedians out there - and the only one I know of who does a credible and funny Elon Musk imitation, in addition to so many other brilliant ones. ⬇️

Multiple reports of drivers doing spontaneous sieg heil salutes at protesters today, including in one case from someone I know personally. What is being normalized is monstrous and dangerous; every day we step closer to the abyss

Not sure if any UCLA grad students follow me but CSW'a Black Feminism Initiative's Grad Fellowship applications are open til 2/28. I was honored to have 1 of the fellowships named after me a few years ago alongside my friend and comrade Alisa Bierria. Apply! opportunitydesk.org/2025/02/15/c...

this is an act of unspeakable violence. it benefits no one, it doesn’t move a number on a balance sheet. it only guarantees that every one of these incarcerated transgender people will be tortured.

Took many more photos on my camera to upload later but the rally at S_onewall was absolutely fantastic and inspiring. TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS. Fuck this government, become ungovernable, never be erased. @transexualmenace.bsky.social #Stonewall #S_onewall

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Timeline cleanser. No context needed!

A little story about repression and why I've never treated arrests as something anyone should do: for those of you who don't remember, Occupy Wall Street was a massive movement that was centered around encampments that popped up in city centers across the US (and Canada and UK) from Sept to Nov 2011

conditioning disaster aid that californians have paid into simply to force policies on californians who don’t want them is as straightforward an abrogation of the spirit of the union as one can imagine and red states had better be prepared to accept retributions in kind

btw, i will tell you this - i have been talking to people all day, and the media is missing, whether intentionally or not, how absolutely, volcanically angry the people who have been fired are, not because they lost their jobs, but because their jobs matter, *to us*

This is key to understanding the building outrage & backlash that extends way beyond the hurt of those fired. Firing people for no reason is brutal & loathsome but the even larger overall offense is wiping out all the fired people’s jobs with them, all the purposes & needs & value those jobs serve.

Be queer. Be relentlessly and unapologetically queer.

Trans liberation and disability justice are one fight. No body or mind left behind.

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS sweeping nationwide injunction against Trump DEI executive orders finding that they violate First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. A huge victory for @democracyforward.org and its clients. A stinging loss for Trump. Visit www.democracydocket.com for details.

Two hours after we published the Mark Hertling article below arguing against political firings of generals, Trump announced he was firing the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. trumpstruth.org/statuses/29791

Driver in an SUV almost hits me, speeding through a turn as I cross the street. Claims she saw me and was being safe. You be the judge if whether you’d see someone looking right into this setting sun or slow down.

Thieves. They want to rob the American people.

Every liberal "paper of record": maybe the fascists have a point Eater: Know your rights

2 fucking headlines right next to each other

Ok, I'm doing a version of this thread for 🧪 who are new to political conditions where info security is a safety issue: 1. Don't make public lists of people who are engaging in acts of resistance 2. Be weary of calls to advertise acts of subversion 3. Don't live post resistance meetings

"The opposition is the majority."

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Trump’s EO ruining the independence of federal agencies shows the real goal of Musk and Trump is not efficiency or even winning the culture wars. It’s thievery. And they are *exceptional* thieves. My latest in @thenation.com

First they went after undocumented people, and Democrats helped pass a horribly cruel anti-immigration bill. Now they’re going after people like me.

🔥 There's a great book called Spreading the News that tells the history of America's postal service and why it was specifically (and uniquely) not controlled by a King.

There’s something happening in this country.

The more I look at the 2024 Monster Manual, the more I think they didn’t publish build your own monster guidance because they don’t have as consistent principles. Damage for monsters with legendary actions, value of special defenses is all over the place.

If you played TTRPGs between 1970-2004, PhD Candidate Geoffrey Ramirez (Binghamton U) is seeking participants for “Character Creation: The Tabletop Role-Players Oral History Project” as part of his dissertation. Interviews will be archived at the Strong Museum of Play (can be time-locked, etc)

Standing up to the authoritarian wave requires more than cheerleading for democracy; it demands making democratic societies more participatory, responsive, and adaptable at all levels, from local to national, in response to the societal shifts driven by the Internet over the past 15 years.

Three online "news" stories published this week that include quotes from me that I didn't say. But I didn't do interviews and get misquoted. And they're not written by actual journalists. My best guess is there are massive amounts of AI slop getting posted as news and now I'm part of it. 😬

hi, are you doomscrolling? You should order your free Covid-19 tests while the federal program still exists: special.usps.com/testkits

What I fear is going to happen is that Trump will be unpopular, we’ll get some sort of weird capital controlled stasis, and what we have lost in the past month plus will never get rebuilt. Just like a new normal of austerity and hollowed state capacity. It’s imperative to deliver a real defeat.

Please don’t boo the anthem. Please don’t boo the anthem.

I swear, it sounds like Gretzky is getting boo'd. Good.

Every editor’s worst nightmare

Weather is getting nice, so I went out for a walk. Touched grass that a neighbor mowed.

If you're trying to figure out what to do right now, my advice is to just pick a thing that you think might be useful in some way, however small, and do it. Doing a thing leads you to doing another, bigger thing, and prepares you for that next thing.

They will plunder everyone. Just starting with places smart enough not to put these thieves in pawer.

$5,000 is less than the average per-person cost that medicaid covers in the state of ohio for child delivery, this is why you don't pretend this is a good idea and try to cleverly make it backfire on them, they're unlikely to deliver it and they want to make the cuts anyway
