Update: JJ here slashed all four of my tires, shoved a sock in my gas tank and left a creepy note on my windshield

Grimes is a YIMBY #gentrification

these columnists are either hateful & racist rubes or historically ignorant people who simply cannot see that attacks on trans people and on the idea of women & any black or brown people in positions of authority is a prelude to the heel stomping on everyone else's face

So, the question remains: What are @gavinnewsom.bsky.social, @tonythurmond.bsky.social, @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov @wearecta.bsky.social doing to prepare for the onslaught of legal attacks from the DOJ and inevitable defunding of CA schools?

Government can’t do anything right. Except, with some luck, make for great television. Nothing works but are you entertained? It’s all you can ask for.

If yall want to Break Laws This is the TIME TO DO it🤡

Dhillon is yet another SF far-right winger who could’ve been stopped years ago if local Dems weren’t enjoying working with her

SF Public Defender Mano Raju speaking at rally to retain Max Carter-Oberstone on Police Commission. Asks if we’ve been stopped while driving and had guns pulled on us, even tho we weren’t driving dangerously and had our terrified child in the car. Many have, & understand the need for real oversight

These are the SFUSD positions that Supt. Maria Su will ask the Board to approve for layoffs on Tuesday. Listening to parents speak at public comment it doesn't sound like we have 70 too many elementary school teachers and 44 too many paraeducators.

When Elliott Duchon was a superintendent, he approved a program where special education students were collecting trash to “learn functional skills.” Now he tells SFUSD that social workers are a luxury? archive.today/jkHdV

We really need to be clear that the education reform groups are aligned with right-wing education goals, from their embrace of "no politics" to pseudoscience reading pedagogies

Incredible journalism.

Milei seems like the model for the Trump/Musk gutting of the government.

This. A rare example of a progressive organization that is not: - dedicated to electing a particular candidate - advocating for a position on a particular issue area Conservatives have so many of these at the National and local level.

David Chiu, now SF’s City Attorney, carved an unenforceable loophole into the city’s original Airbnb regulations - which the company wrote and then used in other cities. Chiu’s subsequent campaign was backed by Reid Hoffman and Ron Conway www.sfweekly.com/archives/sha...

This is a really good piece. The accelerationists described in it seek private city states. The field of city planning needs to take a stand on the values of democracy, which is central to urban life. www.nybooks.com/online/2025/...

As DOGE began infiltrating government agencies and targeting federal staff for termination, I started interviewing tech workers on the front lines. With the mass layoffs unfolding today, and with their permission, I'm sharing their stories. This is what it's been like to endure Musk's campaign.

EdSec hearing is today, so I’m reposting this article on deputy nominee Penny Schwinn and her ties to a Sacramento charter school. Schwinn may be the real one to watch at DOE www.cbsnews.com/sacramento/n...

Sunday’s police chase is exactly the kind of incident for which Prop. E was intended. At the same time, the dangerous pursuit, violent crash and subsequent hospitalization of six people, was also exactly the kind of calamity Prop. E’s detractors feared. missionlocal.org/2025/02/sf-p...

They really let Thiel co-opt a term used for apartheid, death squads, and residential schools for an investigation into Epstein, Fauci, and debanking crypto bros.

Here's a previous Roy Edroso Breaks It Down Christmas sketch which I still like but what do I know: edroso.substack.com/p/its-a-entr...

It's fascinating to see the parallels. Chicago is also struggling w/ enrollment at neighborhood schools and balancing that with school choice, equitable need-based funding, staffing schools in a way that is economical, fair and effective, and finally getting more money from the state.

Trump AI and crypto ‘czar’ role is being scaled back to general advisor position as Sacks won’t divest from VC firm & complete formal confirmation process. “Even if Trump & people in his administration usually see conflicts of interest as an afterthought, the situation with Sacks became an issue.”

The closing Fillmore Safeway exists on land seized by San Francisco using eminent domain during Redevelopment. Private equity acquired Safeway corporation in 2015 and is only concerned with maximum profits. Can eminent domain be used for good of non-rich people?

I don't know why the SF Chronicle avoids mentioning specifics at all. But the "violation of workplace conduct policy" alluded to here was a social media post promoting fundraising for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which offended some racists. She was fired for supporting the UN.

His “San Fransicko, why progressives ruin cities” book is dogma in polite society opinion but they seem willfully blind to the fact he’s an obvious charlatan.

it's called christ-mas because it was the first day god took physical form as christ and was able to go to taco bell and live más

Will the cryptocurrency industry’s endemic fraud and risk-taking ultimately be backstopped by government bailouts, funded by taxpayers who may themselves have no exposure to crypto assets? Has crypto become too big too fail? My latest in Businessweek: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I think we should be clear that SFUSD proposes cutting 500 teachers and 6 central office management types. The district office is the biggest it's ever been even though the district is smaller. The priority here isn't students. It's management.
