Reagan promised it in spades. Carter’s moral compass was scapegoated, and in the backlash, Republicans seized a decade of dominance.

When militants stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, the narrative cemented: America humiliated, Carter powerless. Though he worked tirelessly for peace and energy independence, the perception of passivity doomed him. By 1980, voters weren't looking for nuance: they wanted strength.

Every global disruption, from OPEC's price hikes to Iran's revolution, was painted not as geopolitical complexity but as a consequence of Carter's "weakness." His refusal to play the imperial strongman became political ammunition.

You are no comrade of mine, US Leftists always sought to abandon my comrades in Ukraine and actualized on it as soon as it was convenient.
My comrades are the Leftists, Liberals, and yes even Nationalists who bled in the trenches of Ukraine, as the DSA and progressives sat moralizing over them.

People have their role to play - Lawmakers and political thinkers are not your common saboteur - not when the enemy has all of the cards.
The law still stands yet, let it not be Democrats who first cast it aside -- it will only used as an excuse for greater overreached as it was for Spain's Franco.

My heart is bitter, my contempt palpable. Their ideals are not wrong, but the stewards of those ideals turned their knives inward and wrought havoc both for us, people completely unrelated, but also most contemptable the very people they purported to be defending by doing so.

Trump is 1000x worse than AOC on the issue, yes. It's a shame that the progressives I used to whole heartily support spent all of their political capital dragging down Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this election season, stalling aid to grandstand.

Race baiting isn't progressive - many just see firing squad as archaic and inhumane; many see the death penalty in of itself that way.
No one but you made this about race, however.

- but this is congress, not your revolutionary war council. You will have to do the later yourself, congress has their own battlefield.

Shut up goober, the anti-POTUS is looking for any excuse to execute the insurrection act and you want the only people blocking him in congress to be subject to a mass-arrest in a for a display of public disapproval?
Like, I understand you frustration at perceived performantism -

She is not the leader to follow - The Squad joined MAGA Mike Johnson in using the foreign nationals who depend on us as negotiating props by blocking foreign aid packages from floor votes to virtue signal action on Gaza.

Progressives are mad she didn't use the specific verbiage they wanted the President addressed with in this snap-shot hell-kitchen of a moment.
Americans are proving themselves loathsome creatures no matter their political stripe, imo. The cultural rot runs deep, and is not confined to the Right.

You and these types complaining about Dems are only off by one exponent: "I mean, they said "go fuck yourself" in pre-coup language, yes. Saying, "We'll see you in court." used to be brave and defiant, but when the president owns the courts it's not saying much."

Somehow a lot of us have become real comfortable weighing in on shit we don't really understand, demanding actions with emotional pleas, and then dragging down allies for not doing immediately agreeing.

"Our government should have contingencies for their contingencies" describe the ones you have envisioned.
Surely you are not just widely gesturing about actions that should have been taken while having none in mind?

Most of the arguments from MAGA are pretextual, a small veneer of cover for their true reasons of support.
This is why you can totally refute an argument, reverse it onto the arguer, and suddenly its no longer an issue worth discussion!

"Even if its performative" so you think of little performative projects for Democrats to do and get mad when they dont
I appreciate them using their energy to things that they think might actually do something, You unserious clown. Child.

They don't have the votes to even get it to the floor
Have you no concept of how government works? You had to vote for them first, Genuis.
