the funniest thing is that everyone on ancestry dot com is obsess with this but like basically everyone is descended from some kind of nobility. You have 2,048 greatx10-grandparents. For me that means 2,048 living ancestors around the first half of the 1600s.

Fun fact: Charlemagne lived before Europe's Genetic Isopoint. This means that literally every white person alive today is a descendent of Charlemagne.

I have to drive around with my passenger seat belt buckled bc my car thinks my work bag is the weight of a person and keeps setting the seatbelt alarm off 😓

Musk called DOGE “maximally transparent,” but it has refused to release info about its spending and operations — including the names of its employees. Thankfully, @propublica.org has identified 46 of them, including 12 new names just added to the list today.

Look at the guy in the photo. Wearing a mask and gloves, he's crouched in a puddle in a gutter soaking up bird guano. For science. To try to keep on top of an incipient pandemic. Maybe we should be grateful that people are willing to do this work. Instead of sloughing them off so easily.

To this day I find it annoying that all instruction in Old French assumes the learner knows modern French. You don’t have to approach it this way! The grammar isn’t even the same! It just makes it seem more daunting to the avg US student (who isn’t wealthy)

i can only assume this is a film about a 20-year journey to find a lost cat

Every time I have vague twinges of unease abt how someone responds to my ADHD stuff I convince myself it’s just trauma making me see the specter of ableism everywhere and then I find out that person’s teaching late policy and it’s the worst thing I’ve ever heard. Every time!

This is interesting because the question is less what they will do as *legislators* and more what they will do as *politicians*. AOC is a member of the House minority, but she’s doing a lot of politics about all of this anyway.

Someone who teaches like genetics or something is having an optional study meeting with their students and I can hear them asking questions/expressing confusion with a tone of being grateful for help rather than sounding accusing that it isn’t easy and I forgot what that’s like 🥲

a lot of what people mean is “a person I know IRL once winced a little when I said something and said “I usually prefer (term)” politely and awkwardly” and idk how we fix that, it’s not like it’s messaging it’s just called living in a society

just found out my hometown’s small airport has no written policy about disposing of unclaimed lost and found so it ONLY ACCUMULATES and there’s stuff in there for 20 years ago???

again, this is the easiest political slam dunk in the world find a veteran with a lifetime of public service who has been fired for no reason and bring him on television with you do it again tomorrow with a different veteran, and again, and again show the human cost

Beautiful riso-printed version of @courtniewolfgang.bsky.social's urgent zine on supporting+affirming trans+queer students+educators vs the "radical indoctrination" EO's violence. Anyone can read the PDF version of the zine+print it (share/leave copies around) for free zinebakery.com/redistro/sup...

No need to parse dog whistles with the advocate for Germany’s neo-Nazi party, who laments the end of Apartheid in South Africa, does sig heils in public, denigrates minorities, and proclaims that white men are inherently superior. Yes, he is. We don’t need to ask anymore, we need to deal with it.

seems like it is a big deal that the unifying ideology of the doge team is neo nazism

pssst they’re scared of unions and collective bargaining because it creates structures to build mass resistance on

[tapping head meme] can't have Humanities Phds if you've defunded the whole University

#HotStickSaturday

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

whaaaaaaaat are you saying the decades-long attack on the humanities that was generally ignored by STEM as a whole is having direct consequences for STEM

i think many people are still thinking about this as a problem that goes away in four years. this is not a problem that goes away in four years.
