in normal english usage, it’s the penetration depth that is short of the target, not visa versa as you had it

also, means testing is expensive (like drug testing, another popular gate keep for benefits). it isn’t about saving money, it’s about keeping the poors in their place

the right wing isn’t a coherent intellectual view of the world, it’s a group of criminals carrying out a formula for attaining and abusing power.

like, the answer to questions like "what rights to states have" and "how powerful should the executive be" are totally determined by who the current executive is, but it's also forbidden to say that out loud. it's really not something we can effectively train machines on right now.

there's a small garbage corpus, shit like conservative internet forums. but that would result in a very broken and stupid AI (much worse than what we have now). contemporary conservatism isn't an intellectual tradition with gigabytes documents you can train on, it's a fast moving propaganda campaign

d&d plot device idea: powerful patron / cleric deity who interrupts you mid quest to make you do pointless "tricks" or just to give you a head rub. sometimes he gives you "treats" (low value magic items), often throwing them off in the distance expecting you to scramble after them

telling the cat he shall lose my protection, my powers, and my sympathy, that he will face the terror of my full wrath, if he does that on the carpet one more fucking time

to create a “conservative” ai using existing methods you would need a large amount of written documents reflecting contemporary conservative ideas, with simply doesn’t exist.

and it is programmed to turn an input corpus into a language model and then respond to prompts based on that model. there’s no “be more conservative” knob to turn. it’s possible in theory but it’s not an existing thing. the current bias of the models is derived from the bias of the corpus.

they don’t work forward from principles, they work backward from tactical positions, so it’s notable when they get closer to naked white supremacy arguments

we’ve ignored that part of the constitution since WWII. we officially have never been at war since then.

the truism i’ve heard is that models are always wrong, the question is what’s the least wrong model you can afford

but then if you said “sharp teeth” people would make the same joke about which kind of sharp you mean every time so the plan is, make the first mainstream comedy movie that riffs on “sharp teeth “ and then people will reference your movie constantly

a solution is to make magic so secretive that people think it doesn’t exist (with training done by illicit secret societies), and monsters be an extremely rare thing the players are forced to deal with. but yeah, a world where everyone knows monsters and magic are everywhere devolves into nonsense

you need to give them more credit, they can also create new false answer-shaped-objects even when fed nothing but true statements

at this point if "fiscal hawk" can mean anything at all it's a code word for "fuck them poors". it's a propaganda term for class war aimed at taking money out of the economy and giving it to the rich, there's no other intelligible referent.

so many high engagement accounts ride the “look at what that asshole said” formula, even here on bsky. i think it’s unavoidable when you have visible engagement metrics. i like to follow the ones i agree with just for the sadistic thrill of finding new accounts to block
comment in response to post
two counter behaviors come to mind: people who get blocked so much that they can’t get anything from the site can easily make new accounts, and anger motivates behavior more than agreement does, so people hungry for attention have a motivation to call attention to disagreeing views
