The technology could do so much, but not any of what it could do should be that.

We know. But that was back when we were supposed to take him seriously but not literally.

This just in: Trump announces ethnic cleansing of Gaza and US to “own” it.

My god! These people cannot be this stupid. How do they remember to breathe?

This is about impoundment. It’s about Trump asserting dictatorial powers.

Since then I have seen too many videos of people who voted for him saying that they never thought he was telling the truth about that. Same with immigration. The farmers were counting on the fact that he was lying about it. It's nuts that they are factoring in his lying to them.

Also, that would be ethnic cleansing which is against international law.

Also, it's hard to shove things in their faces when their faces are currently being eaten by leopards

My understanding is that these manufacturers have been buying, importing and storing stuff since the buffoon started rambling about the tariffs in the first place. So it probably won't be overnight, but the increased storage costs are already going to drive inflation.

Yelling at the public who voted R or didn't vote at all, maybe? The administrative state is the executive branch. We fight them in the courts which is happening. Dems yelling at the public who voted D is a bit of a waste of energy, don't you think?
comment in response to

Not true. They could easily ignore every single Democrat yelling that them. It only becomes hard to turn the wheel when the squishy Republicans start yelling with the Dems as well. Once the purple states start yelling, the rest of the GOP will start seeing the writing on the wall.

You put a Republican in the drivers seat then get all of the passengers to scream in unison at the driver while he goes the wrong way. But the driver still gets to turn the wheel. Not sure what good it does, but I guess you'll feel better.

If you think that you can get the entire Democratic Party in congress to vote against every single nomination then I think it's you who don't get it.

I don't know what is going on behind the scenes but different politicians have different political capital to spend. We won't be able to block them all, and there might be some damage to mitigate with a few well placed yes votes.

We'll see how they do on the most controversial of them, they all voted against Hegseth. If any vote for Bondi, Gabbard or Kennedy then I will pissed. I think Rubio should have got more pushback but at least he's "qualified". It doesn't matter much if Trump gets his impoundment powers though.
comment in response to

He did that with filibusters. You can't pass laws with a filibuster you can only block them. Right now there are not laws to block with a filibuster and they have no power over executive orders otherwise than to take them to court which dems are doing.

Pay to isolate them from cameras and reporters then pay to send them to any country that will take them.

And it’s not new. He has said in the past that he sees the power of the President as something like a king. As usual, he has said this incriminating thing in front of cameras.

@deirdreassenza.bsky.social I have muted notifications on this cute picture of my dog. Reply and I will see if I killed the thread.

Muting notifications to you should have no impact on the thread. Maybe you found a bug.

I guess I could have used this one too.

everything he does that makes things worse, like tariffs, tax breaks for the rich etc. Every claim he makes for how things are getting better (if they do) has to be tied back to a policy change or it didn't happen. And Dems need to have specific proposals for how things could be better.

They have honestly not moved past the idea that they should move fast and break things. They never really figured out how to fix it.

Trump has made a career out of being the rooster taking credit for the rising sun while at the same time skirting the blame for any of the manure he produced in the barnyard.
comment in response to

Yeah, while it would be more effective to prove that he would never be able to manage such a large organization with so little experience, these allegations would also tank any military career he tried to pursue as well. It's absolutely relevant.

"The year of ___ " has never really been the years of those things in FB history. They have only ever needed the flimsiest of excuses to lay people off. Efficiency, Quality, etc. Just a bunch of hokum thought up by a CEO that doesn't really know what happens in his company.

The only people who were afraid of posting politics on Threads were the ones who relied on misinformation to make their points. To date, I have had one political post removed from FB or Threads, and I deserved it for not doing my own factcheck on that one. It's not hard to factcheck.
comment in response to

Because there has never been a case where user moderation was biased. Facts are now determined by whoever can get the most people to shout the loudest. All because Trump threatened to censor FB, Threads and Instagram. Absurd.

What needs attention is the fact that he refused to rule out taking it by force. They were never going to sell it. This shifts easily into a "he's lost his marbles" story. Want proof, look at his cabinet picks. Loony tunes.

I tried to bring a Threads post over but it seems that the max character number is much smaller here. Over there it was Ten Random Listens.
