To bomb Iran the US deployed 7 B2 bombers, each of which cost $2.1B to build. They used 14 huge “bunker busters,” a model that cost $500 million to develop. The US invested ~ $15 billion in this attack—almost 50% more than it invested in affordable housing construction this year.

If it was true that corporate donors and party bosses just needed young, talented centrists with creative ideas to win, then Buttigieg would have stomped out Bernie in the 2020 primary. The ground has obviously shifted, and it's been that way for a while now!

Lab-grown lettuce makes me sick almost as much as Cookie Monster going woke. Now let me go on my way avoiding seed oils for several inscrutable reasons

New York public service announcement:

I like TooGoodToGo but it’s very funny that the millennial lifestyle subsidy isn’t taxis anymore, it’s old food

Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

none of these people are capable of analyzing politics in terms anything other than their narrowest and most petty resentments

So @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social did a writeup of Brad Lander's arrest today at 26 Federal Plaza in NYC, focusing not just on Lander's treatment, but the treatment of immigrants inside, both in the courtroom and once they are detained. prospect.org/justice/2025...

I've been doing some video work for @dreamfornyc.bsky.social while I'm out of a job because Andrew Cuomo is an evil prick, a bad leader, and doesn't deserve your vote. We need a leader who will stand up to ICE, not some dipshit who’s bankrolled by landlords that rent space to the gestapo

As climate solutions reporter I find many 'solutions' don't scale- or reduce pollution at all. Which is why after months of reporting I want to tell you about Vienna. Vienna has found a way to make affordable housing and combat climate change, all at the same time. Now U.S. cities want in. 🎧⬇️

There can't be any abundance in the truest sense of the word without taxing the rich and redistributing their wealth, so it's been refreshing to see Zohran reclaiming the word from Ezra Klein, Derek Thompson, and the rest of those ghouls

A sopping wet Richard Kind is ambling down Fifth Ave in the #NoKings protest, shaking hands and giving thumbs ups while absolutely soaked to the bone. Nothing on his body is repelling any amount of water and he seems liberated of something important. I will not post a picture out of respect

No

Took me a while to figure out why but this absolutely gives off the energy of a 1920s silent film. Brad is eating that dog at like 16fps, moving in very stiff way, doing something goofy in a place where it shouldn't be done and threatening his own life in the process...he's going Buster Keaton mode

This is still a tragedy, but it's worth mentioning that the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative and Public Environmental Data Partners have been working very hard to back up resources like these over the last several months

When the metadata rats out the obit desk for putting out the hit

good piece from @jeffhauser.bsky.social. it is maddening that so much discourse ignores that Kamala Harris ran precisely the campaign the "popularist" crowd wanted prospect.org/politics/202...

There is a possible future where the NYC Comptroller sounds remarkably like Bob from Bob's Burgers. I am talking about Mark Levine

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

Investors are responsible for so much bad stuff, but the business hype machine has to be the most annoying. You should not be incentivized to pump the media full of stories about how your shitty product is going to change the world when it’s just going to scam people out of $40 and then die

We need to decommission the cinnamon raisin bagel, it is leading people to ruin. If Cynthia Nixon just got a sesame we would have learned about Cuomo's "bacon, cheese, and egg on an English muffin" much sooner

the climate deniers are admitting what the constant promises of carbon capture that never materialize are really about

"My name is Greta Thunberg and I am from Sweden. If you see this video, we have been intercepted and kidnapped in international waters by the Israeli occupational forces, or forces that support Israel."

i will go to my grave never having seen the film 'goonies'

I can’t believe this is real

@murderxbryan.bsky.social I think I found a new type of Yelp guy, humbly submitting for your consideration for Guys+
