Terry Gordy was one of my favorite galoots who I'd love to have on my side if threatened in the '80s
comment in response to post
yeah, it certainly wasn't the worst thing Vince McMahon did, but replacing all the dad bod galoots who looked like they really do kick the shit out of people in bar fights with prissy looking bodybuilders made wrestling worse

the only good thing about being in my forties is I was around for '90s post-hardcore while it was happening and even opened for some of the shows

it would be interesting to see pressure on other big Atlanta companies like Home Depot or UPS or Delta Air Lines around this
comment in response to post
an iconic Atlanta brand is doing this while a bunch of billionaires based in California are the fascists bringing Jim Crow back. so much for old-fashioned views of different regions

yeah I had one of those conversations over the weekend with relatives who don't pay much attention to it usually, but now they are all sort of bewildered by what is coming out now. the idea that nobody is noticing other than politics junkies doesn't seem to be true anymore.

I swear, from the news coverage you'd think that that older pic is the only photo ever taken of the guy

he's British so I bet it's one of those things where older Americans think a British accent automatically makes him brainy and cosmopolitan (and I guess it would also explain why he didn't learn about FDR's first 100 days in school)

my favorite thing about this is that "sack lunch" isn't a neologism, it's actually a regionalism – and a somewhat old-fashioned one, to boot – from the parts of the US where "sack" has been the usual term for a brown paper bag, as seen in these dialect maps dialect.redlog.net/staticmaps/q...

my understanding is last night was about the musical acts and tonight is about the rest of the show (at least, that's what one of my older relatives who was excited about watching it told me)

for example here's a photo showing Strider and Azure (the twins with Shivon Zilis) also at the White House while he pays no attention to them but you know he was carrying X (who is Grimes's kid) around in front of everyone www.instagram.com/zumapress/p/...

some of the weirdest photos I've seen are the behind the scenes ones at the White House or other govt buildings where you see the nanny who looks after two of the other young ones while he's a room or two away ignoring them but wearing their brother like a hat
comment in response to post
yeah all the murderers are white and two of them were previously convicted of child sex crimes too, my brain clouded up reading about it
