I don't know about that. It looked strangely familiar to me from my area of expertise: (intentionally) fumbled business negotiations. Trump basically set Zelensky up to fail, so that he can execute his next moves more freely.

Rather than wrongly framing ground force deployment as the primary role of peacekeeping (an issue often controversial with domestic audiences), these discussions would better be framed, at least initially, around securing Ukrainian airspace, for which no ground troops are required. 2/2
