Sparkly pink safety net. Inasmuch as the Dachshund is a hunting dog, scars from honorable wounds shall not be considered a fault, nor shall they be penalized by Judges.

The fact that he feels entitled to comment as though the issue is just that people are overreacting about layoffs is symptomatic of the state of education (and reading comprehension, and critical thinking) in this country, and perfectly demonstrates the anti-science agenda that prompted these cuts.

Clicked into his profile—he appears to be 7y retired from a career in production, specifically doing equipment maintenance on the production floor. He has an associate’s degree.

This random dude told a story about a time he lost his job when his employer closed a factory he worked in, and then said that “life goes on. People get new…jobs. Change is always hard but it can often be good.” No understanding of the larger stakes for science, technology, education, policy.

It’s like they listened to everything the target users of the platform have been saying about the larger Real World platform this platform replicates and why they don’t use that one and decided to make theirs do all the stuff nobody liked about the big version.

I’m not happy about the enshitification of literally everything but at this point I guess I’m just resigned to the inevitability of it.

We were saying when we first moved how odd it is to live so far from a major airport but right now it feels less inconvenient.

All the platitudes about how if he'd been put away the first time there wouldn't have been a second time...sure, but Lisa was the reason he wasn't convicted for trying to murder Koketia. Pretty ironic.

Fortunately she got rid of him and I didn't have to beat him to death, but I cannot imagine what Lisa's best friend is feeling, other than a lot of regret that she listened to Lisa and didn't go. Yathomas expected to be found not guilty and released, because that's what happened the first time.

I remember a time, long ago, when I was worried for my best friend's safety due to an unstable romantic partner. "Call me anytime, day or night," I told her. "Grab your phone and run. If you can't get out, lock yourself in the bathroom and call me, and then call the police."

He shot Lisa to death while she was holding their baby and left the baby with his mother's dead body all night while he drove off to establish an alibi.

Her best friend said that the last conversation they had, Lisa was screaming in terror. Her friend said "I'm on my way" and Lisa screamed "You can't come, he'll just kill you too."

Lisa called the cops on him a couple years later because he was threatening her with a gun. She wanted him to get help. She was convinced he was having a psychotic break. He went to jail, but she bonded him out, against the advice of all her friends and Yathomas's family. He killed her soon after.

Lisa, the 2nd wife, worked tirelessly to get his attempted murder (Koketia lived, minus some face, an eye, and some skull) case thrown out. Lisa smeared the character of his victim; she was responsible for trying Koketia in the court of public opinion. Yathomas got off and married Lisa.

I have a friend whose cousin came back from a 1990s backpacking trip in South America with an intestinal parasite previously unknown to science. They killed it with arsenic and then he had to shit into a colander until the corpse emerged because his tropical medicine specialist really wanted it.

She went to join her big brother Miles this morning. We were able to hold her until the end. She went on her own terms and in her own time, and there's some comfort for us in knowing she wasn't scared or alone or in a strange place. It's been a strange, sad holiday. We love you, Spatula.

We don't know much about what her life was like before. It probably wasn't that great. She had the heart of a 12yo at 5, according to her vet, and she spent the last few years fighting kidney disease, but she was a powerful presence in our lives and our house.
