New: DOGE's spending has been secret. No longer. My colleagues have uncovered it. www.propublica.org/article/doge...

Did Elon Musk kill Duo?

as american climate journalists we must now balance “this will hurt you immediately in ways unrelated to climate change” and also “this will separately make global climate action more difficult” without making you care more about the immediate harm and less about climate change a challenge!!!

If your employer is caving to the Trumpists, and has announced an end to DEI and accessibility policies, it's past time to organize with your coworkers so that you're able to pressure your employer using a diversity of tactics Leak Slowdown Sabotage Strike Organize

Go read a book.

Seattle's tech wealthy waged a frenzied war against it. Seattle's quisling city council moved the ballot to February to suppress turnout. Nonetheless, the voters of Seattle have overwhelmingly approved a measure funding a social housing agency by taxing the rich. www.cascadepbs.org/politics/202...

TBH lot of people are on public assistance and don't even realize it, because it's not explicitly framed as govt assistance.

I know my Senators @edmarkey.bsky.social and @warren.senate.gov are a no. Call your senators right now and tell them this man will kill children. Bird flu is on the rise- we cannot afford RFK in this position

i think the reason our markets aren’t reacting to the abandonment of Regular Order is because of many reasons, including that it ultimately benefits rich people

if you read one thing this week… 💙💖🤍💖💙

i hope someone is keeping a running list of how many "temporary" changes that the administration is making so we can see how many of them are still in effect after six months or a year. (spoilers: it is going to be all of them)

he doesn't even go here

just gonna leave this here heated.world/p/you-alread...

For those of you desperately in need of distraction from today's headlines, here's a photo of a bunny & a chick who are friends.

I think we might know where all the missing Dem ballots went This is Ethan Shaotran. He's one of Musk's DOGE takeover hackers 2 yrs ago he won the Berkeley AI Hackathon But in 2000 won the HackGT7 with a ballot altering program called BallotProof Here's the deep dive that he couldn't scrub....

Bernie Sanders: "They will use the enormous media operations they own to deflect attention away from the impact of their policies while they entertain us to death."

The real scam: making you fear the “the other” while the rich rob you blind. I wish every American understood this.

The world's richest man is taking food and medicine from the world's poorest children www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/o...

Get ready people. Because climate change is coming for you just as surely as it came for me. www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...

After 11 years, my time at HuffPost is coming to an end tomorrow. Last week, I learned HuffPost would be ending its dedicated coverage of energy and climate change. So, I took a buyout.

Begging, absolutely begging local resistance/left/advocacy groups not to limit your online organizing efforts to FB. Lots of us refuse to step into Zuck's walled garden.

Elon Musk is orchestrating a coup of the US government. In the past 48 hours he’s gained access to a vast range of sensitive information of millions of citizens, businesses, and foreign development projects. This is as serious as it gets, and it puts the entire world in danger. FireElon.org

But he's "not going to touch social security", right?

Any USAID folks working on cybersecurity, infrastructure, technology projects: please feel free to reach out. How will DOGE impact the work you do? I'm on Signal at JennaMcLaughlin.54.

To all Canadians out there -- please help us, for our sake and yours.

if I understand American politics correctly, progressivism is something that requires 60 senate votes to work, while national conservatism doesn’t require any votes at all

What if there were a coup, the US government fell to a drug-addled oligarch who seized control of our money, secrets, and levers of power, and Corporate media did not report on it?

I'm on a national committee that bridges the ocean and atmospheric science communities to facilitate research on ocean-atmosphere interactions and their role in marine biogeochemical cycles. Our weekly meetings have been put on hold to ensure we don't violate Trump's EO on DEI. 🙄

Senator Andy Kim just went to the USAID building, talked to the security guard there to confirm employees are being barred entry, and then did a press gaggle right there in front to call it out. This is doing something. This is making an effort on messaging. Other Democratic lawmakers: take notes.

I am writing about what is happening to federal personnel policy. One difficulty is that it's hard to observe and verify what is actually happening. I am particularly interested in information about the employment status of individuals working with/in DOGE. Anonymous tips welcome. Signal: Nbednar.46

Yes. While there are absolutely things Democrats can and must do to slow, obstruct, etc, GOP hold both House and Senate majorities, severely limiting our options. Johnson and Thune are handing over the own keys and relinquishing their own power. Even for the cynics this should be a shock.

Now after you watch the last video I posted, watch this one for some much needed optimism. youtu.be/mL0crkf5Dzw?...

The most interesting, informative thing I’ve watched in quite a while. And something important to keep in mind while you watch it — this was released months ago, NOT today.

I continue to add to this list. I also have removed training info that is now outdated.

If the FAA director got fired over a business beef AND there was an air traffic controller hiring freeze despite huge shortages AND a chaotic blitz to hollow out federal bureaucracy, and then within a week the first American airliner crashes in 16 years, you would be insane not to talk about it all.

➡️ January 20: FAA director fired ➡️ January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen ➡️ January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded ➡️ January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees ➡️ January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years Making America Great Again!

NYT reports an air traffic controller’s seat was empty at DCA last night www.nytimes.com/live/2025/01...

If you are a federal worker being offered a buyout, I would advise against taking it. Of course, this is a personal decision for everyone and it’s your choice. But these offers are a rush job. The legality is questionable and this admin does not keep to its word. They aren’t firing for a reason.

Polling shows that only 16% of Americans have a negative impression of DEI. But at this Atlantic magazine staff meeting, that number seems much higher.

dear god I can’t believe people voted to do this again

FYI Viagra has more serious side effects than Mifepristone Mifepristone has a lower risk of side effects than penicillin So why is it such a big deal to these GOP boys anyway?

Read, share, act.

Remember the 625 million acres of public waters that the Biden administration protected from future offshore oil-and-gas drilling? On Trump's first day in office, he ordered the reversal of those protections. Under the law, Trump cannot do this.
