I believe the only models that could be transferred over were those for sale and that could be downloaded. Bit of a weird situation where Sketchfab is still around for now, but the end point isn't really clear. @nebulousflynn.bsky.social has posted details from meetings with Epic.

Chikubushima was within view most of the day, when visibility wasn't wiped out with snow that is :)

I think anytime I've had it it's been mackerel. I'll have to keep an eye out for other types :)

I'm a fan of putting things up asynchronously and have an active comment/forum system. Allows you to engage in the content at your leisure and/or in smaller chunks, and bypasses the issue of not having time for comments of further discussions.

That's a heck of a pace

Yeah, I'm a big fan of this style. It's called surikeshi, where the Jomon pattern is applied and then polished out. It results in a really pleasing effect I think.

Yep, and therefore, not just "easy" :)

Yep, that's a good one for search. It's replacing all the other services that gets to be tricky. Still, do what you can where you can, right?

I think there are some alternatives here and there, but there's no one stop shop to switch things unfortunately. I think you do what you can a bit at a time. Something is better than nothing, right?

Google Search, Google Maps, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Calendar, Google Meet, YouTube, YouTube Music, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Documents, Google Translate, Google Voice, Google Keep, Google Sites, Google Scholar, Android, ChromeOS.... There's no one stop shop to switch :(

The whole robots.txt system only *somewhat* worked due to there being a modicum of decency and good faith out there. I think we're seeing that those types of guardrails won't hold up in today's environment.

Looking good! There are some neat online guides to do some animated underwater caustic effects in Blender pretty easily which I've found to make a pretty big difference in the overall feel.

On the bright side, a warm welcome to all the new followers ❤️

It's not an urgent issue, but I'm really interested in how they're planning to tackle the challenge.

Saw in the post it looks like you'll be using AWS. I'm really curious how that's all budgeted out & for how far out it's budgeted for. Managing storage & accessability for 3D models and data has been an interesting problem I've been exploring recently & I'm really curious to see how you go about it!
