it's hard to explain in a single tweet but basically each instance is run by Actual People, eg. for a community. and being a more nerdy audience, is also queer-friendly. and if your instance is full of hate, unmoderated, sending out spam, etc., then it gets muted by the rest of the fediverse. try it
