If I ask really nicely can I get one even though I'm not going to Chicago

Without a one mana reanimate spell I really do think the Reanimator archtype gets way more fair. I'm more comfortable with a t2 5/5 troll and no mana up than a t2 6/5 troll with one mana up.

Every way that matters, at least. I'll still run Alesha because I love trans women more than I love final fantasy, no matter how much those demographics overlap.

Ugh. Yeah, it's power creep in nearly every way.

I've been running Zoanthrope over Ballista every day of the week because it feels like every deck has at least one Null Rod/Disruptor Fute in the sideboard! I've actually been running Amulet as my only energy card, with the occasional Galvanic Discharge if D&T or Tempo is getting too annoying.

I'm skeptical about energy but if I can get the average MV down I think Amped Raptor would be a phenomenal value add. Thanks for sharing!! I'm trying out Dour-Port Mage as a one-of draw engine but I really want Imperial Recruiter to be playable :/

What's your list look like? I've been trying to build rug food chain for a while and I can't settle on anything!!!

On second thought, maybe the card's ability is conditionally active- the ability is only technically on the card once you reach max speed but that is only determined by when the card is on the battlefield? That'd probably be why Marvin could work but cauldron doesn't.
comment in response to
post
I can't find any official rulings, but Max Speed is pretty weird. From what I understand, the ability is active once you reach Max Speed. Play Marvin with this guy on the battlefield, that should do the same thing. If it doesn't, one of 'ems a bug.

I can't believe Standard has to do the same things Modern had to do with scam ðŸ˜when are we gonna see this bad boy get reprinted

Let's be honest, there is no clear ruling as no Magic card actually does this. Although 107.3h states that "Normally, all instances of X on an object have the same value at any given time." I believe this is not a normal case and the two values are unlinked. As such, I think 107.3e is applicable.

Thank you!
comment in response to

Nope! I haven't judged in a while, but I believe these two instances of X are not linked- and an ability that instructs you to do something "x times" without an external definition for that X, you can name x as whatever you want. So yes, it is as brokenest as possible!

Mana Crypt with no downside and also you can pay four mana to draw however many cards you want

Racism is ended, didn't you hear? It happened when we elected the guy who violated anti-housing discrimination laws as president.

This was the core argument and idea behind rule 0 before it got dumbed down to "you should talk to your table about what you expect from a game for two hours before playing." I liked it.

I can think of a few funny lines with the 0/6 that crews with toughness from Kaldheim.

That azorious aggro deck that plays all those one drops that investigate/make a map might be happy to play this. I can see it happening- especially because the space set HAS to have an artifact theme.
comment in response to
post
Two mana is such a huge barrier of entry for artifact decks compared to one, especially two separate pips. I don't think this'll see play in any 60 card formats.

I know cycling is the theme in izzet, but god I wish cards could just be dead cards. Same issue I had with vexing bauble, albeit much more time.

The set just didn't earn these dumb, bad references through good mechanics like Dusmourn did.

FINAL??? I'm sad to see it go, but I understand. As a former Gabe, thank you so much for this series. It's really helped me grow 🫶
comment in response to

Maybe I'm looking at this from a strictly 60 card perspective but the extra pip really kneecaps this. Spending two mana for 3 cards is bigger than it looks.

I love how you can't use the evoke ability unless the creature already says you can cast it from the yard.
