They need him to be a genius because they cannot handle what it means for them to be tricked by a fool.

Yeah the issue is that the west half of this route is flat but the east half is … not. There’s a reason the NYC was time-competitive with a longer, flatter route. (This would require about 200 miles of near-constant tunneling/bridging to get across the mountains.)

Bus/bike lanes really don’t work well if there’s any frequency of buses and bikes. They have the same average speed but very different speed profiles: buses stop and start frequently, bikes go a constant but slower speed.
So either bikes and buses have to pass each other or everyone is slower.

When people complain about bike lanes I'm reminded of this quote about a Market Basket closing in Billerica:
"If that's all they have to worry about in life— they're doing pretty good, that's all I can tell you. Are you kidding me?"

Today is day 48 in a row <50˚ (tied 32nd longest) but that should keep going for a while. No sign of 50 in the next 10 days, 58 days would be 13th longest.
No wonder the river is frozen!

I had to jog to get the Green Line at Northeastern (I saw it coming) and then moved up to the front car at Boylston, and jogged from there to the Red Line which left about 20s later.

Yeah you want to try to do that today on an e-bike with 40 mph winds and ice all over the bike lanes?

It also makes operations work better, especially where you are converting to level boarding.

$1.38 billion spent on NWS.
$102.1 billion returned in estimated public value.
Those values produce a return on investment (ROI) of 73.98.

That said you’d need 56cm to crack the top 10 in Boston (three of which occurred over the span of less than three weeks).

That’s pretty impressive even for Montreal!
Apparently Thursday was 9th place and the record overall is 47 cm so two top 10s in a week is impressive.
