The reason that the US is locking up tourists for weeks in hellish detention centers rather than letting them book tickets back home is because the detention centers are owned by corporations. They are charging the taxpayers fortunes to cage these people, and making bonanzas off their suffering.

I was there WITH OSKAR so those of you who stayed home missed a chance to hold a 10-week old baby.

Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back. This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008. Also bigger than the 2024 DNC. And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

I am so honored to have the endorsement of MRLF. In my time on City Council, I have been proud to stand with unions and Labor in the fight for safe working conditions and livable wages. I am committed to keeping up the fight in my next term, and I will (1/2)

Now: Week 6 of the growing protests outside of Tesla Minneapolis (Golden Valley):

170 people in front of the Maplewood Tesla showroom today! And we had a quick organizing meeting after. Security, upcoming demonstrations, and other actions to take. I know GV has been popular and I hear the chants are good, but Maplewood I think gets a lot more visibility, being right on Hwy 61.

“We must make our choice. We may have democracy, or we may have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we cannot have both.” - Justice Louis Brandeis

It's clear that the Trump administration denied due process to the migrants it banished to El Salvador *precisely because* any measure of judicial oversight would've proved their innocence immediately. Deported, imprisoned, and condemned to hard labor—for a soccer tattoo. slate.com/news-and-pol...

Walz: "I think we have to assume the very worst in everything this administration does, and we need to prepare for it."

A YES on cloture is a YES for the bill. Do not let anyone play games with you.

I am SUCH a big fan of Natalie. And DeWayne too, of course!

Americans really need to stop listening to stupid people, no matter how charismatic they are.

“I wholeheartedly endorse Rev. Dr. DeWayne Davis to become the next Mayor of Minneapolis. He is a decisive leader, a person of integrity, and cares deeply for the wellbeing of our city. In my experience working with him over the years, (1/2)

Re-posting w CORRECT link. I want Minneapolis to be a better city when it comes to transit & livability. I want elected leaders who see that as a priority; and I want them to hear from me and you. I'm holding caucus trainings about this specifically. Join me: bit.ly/connectedmpls

@aoc.bsky.social: "Listen, if your representative is not doing a town hall, give me a ring... I'll say it right here, right now: if a deep red Republican district wants to have an honest conversation, even if it's with someone they disagree with, I'm willing to do that."

Hot take: I think Gavin Newsom is a smarmy asshole who would love to be the Andrew Cuomo of California. To hell with him.

Economists worry a Trumpcession is on the way www.telegraph.co.uk/business/202...

can't believe it's 2025 and i'm stressed about tariffs and measles, like am i a character in an american girl book

The GOP vision is a Minnesota where a little girl can’t learn sex education in school but can be forced to have an invasive medical exam to verify her reproductive organs because a random guy in the bleachers thought she was a little too good at soccer.

How to deal with fascists 101.

Reminder: we are being trained not to care about other people. It underlines the attacks on migrants, on DEI, on trans youth, on so-called "wokeness." Sure there are legitimate critiques but this is not about critiques. It's about supercharging capitalism's culture of uncare.

So Musk’s people, who misread $8 million as $8 billion, who counted the same contracts multiple times and counted as savings programs that ended last year, claim that their AI is finding lots of Social Security fraud. Why should anyone worry?

We have a parasite class in America, and it is the super wealthy.

Just read this graf. Share it with people you know who don’t pay attention to politics or news.

REM is back together again? It truly is the end of the world (as we know it).

"DeWayne has plans to ensure everyone gets a say, not just monied downtown interests. He knows that no city can survive if it ignores its most marginalized residents - how those on the bottom rung are faring is a measure of the city overall.

Gee I wonder why there’s a shortage of air traffic controllers

Republicans are gutting our healthcare. Pass it on.

There’s never been a better time to stop subsidizing unaccountable national media outlets like NYT or WaPost, and give that money to ProPublica instead!

American billionaires aren’t thinking nearly enough about their mortality as they should. The American people will only be pushed so far, and the general populace is armed to the teeth.

Not to be too much of a policy wonk or anything but the simplest way to balance the budget would be to tax billionaires out of existence.

Reporter: If you could speak directly to Elon Musk, what would you say? Rep. Jasmine Crockett: Fuck off.

Republicans are trying to pass a budget that would destroy Medicaid and cut coverage for the most vulnerable. Do you know what is also included? $4.5 trillion in tax breaks to the ultra-rich. That's not right and we're fighting back.

Government efficiency is when every federal agency has to send a daily emergency email to its workers telling them to ignore another daily email from a different department trying to fire them without knowing what their jobs are.

Do National Democrats even have the juice to stop this nonsense? I’m seeing too many folding chairs with titles right now, and true leaders are few and far between. I would prefer if these sleepy octogenarians would get out of the way, but the least they could do is WAKE UP.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source. Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

Remember, this is who the Dems put in charge of House Oversight instead of AOC.

Elon, I hate to break it to you but you aren’t my boss. I answer to the people of Minnesota. But since you bring it up, I spent last week fighting to stop tax breaks for billionaires like you, paid for by defunding health care for moms and babies

Keep this letter from @meghscase.bsky.social in your back pocket as the mayoral election gears start grinding: Mayor Jacob Frey is the one who bears responsibility for public safety in Minneapolis

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.
