A little worn out after 6 hours in line, but I’m excited to start testing and reviewing!

DF Direct Weekly #215 is now live, discussing CDPR 'dropping' 37 mins of Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 footage, Doom: TDA PC stats running on Xbox consoles, Hellblade 2 PS5, RX 9060 XT and much more: youtu.be/56WeNW9hf-o

Hogwarts Legacy appears to scale well on Switch 2, with visuals that greatly exceed the anemic Switch 1 release. Last-gen home consoles seem the closest match, but it isn't a straight port of any existing console preset.

DF Direct Weekly #213 is now live, discussing Switch 2 processor analyses, Project Kennan/ROG Ally 2 leaks, GTA 6 'gameplay' shots in Trailer 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Switch 2 vs PS5: youtu.be/2tzHhmnrPkQ

The Dark Ages is an engaging, beautiful FPS that also happens to run very well on consoles. It isn’t technically faultless, but it is seriously impressive.

GTA 6 is shaping up to be an outstanding visual experience - the kind of game that only near-limitless resources could realistically create.

Days Gone Remastered offers welcome boosts over the original, though some appear to come at the cost of image clarity. It’s a decent remastering effort, if somewhat low-priority relative to other games in Sony’s large back catalog.

Hopefully this date slip will produce a polished day one product without substantial technical issues. Late 2025 is looking rather busy already anyways!

Expedition 33 is a compelling game on virtually all fronts, and comes highly recommended. Its visual presentation is top-notch too, despite being made by a relatively small developer.

DF Direct Weekly #211 is live, discussing Days Gone Remastered, the new Ghost of Yōtei trailer, Switch 2 Edition costs, Switch Game Keys, the PS5 Pro teardown and much, much more: youtu.be/1nBPJOJOzAU

I managed to get a Switch 2 pre-order! Just took a few hours waiting and chatting outside on a lovely Vancouver day.

FH5 remains a sublime experience, and the new PlayStation port is excellent. Gamers who’ve missed out on Forza Horizon so far would be well advised to check this one out.

Today on Digital Foundry, hands on with Switch 2! Tom and myself visited the London showcase event and here's what we think about the hardware, the software and the whole experience: youtu.be/i4zKz8uu7IU

DF Direct Weekly #210 is now live, discussing the next-gen PlayStation handheld rumours and confirmation of DLSS in Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2. And what's up with docked VRR on the new Nintendo console: youtu.be/z44nLuk4m-8

Some weird stuff going on at Nintendo. Looks like they've changed their US website to no longer mention VRR support for TV play? Only HDR and 120Hz support get a call-out.

The latest patch for AC Shadows greatly improves image quality with an excellent PSSR implementation - though performance does take a hit.

DF Direct Weekly #209 is now live, discussing hands-on impressions of Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2, Asus' Xbox handheld tease, the Metal Eden demo on PC, Microsoft's AI rendition of Quake 2 and much, much more: youtu.be/6qWqlLNx6Ek

Mario Kart World's key tech accomplishment is its vast open world - but there are rendering upgrades and resolution bumps in the mix too. It's one to keep a close eye on as the Switch 2's launch approaches.

Check out the latest DF Direct, where Rich and I go over the initial Switch 2 materials in exacting detail. We roped @dachsjaeger.bsky.social along for the ride as well!

Our first impressions of the Switch 2 Direct! Lots to go over here but we tried to cover as much ground as reasonably possible.

Nintendo Direct! Virtual Game Cards! Metroid Prime 4! Switch 2 C Button! It's a Switch-centric DF Direct Weekly this week, but discuss The Witcher 4/Intergalactic scheduling while John shares his impressions of GDC: youtu.be/6Tfm_xUEQPc

The PS5's VRR stuttering is indeed a substantial problem, introducing periodic hitches when playing games with unlocked frame-rates using VRR. It's been apparent for months, but still needs Sony attention.

DF Direct Weekly #206 is live, discussing Microsoft's Xbox/Steam slip-up, Assassin's Creed Shadows' Mac port, Rise of the Ronin PC impressions and our thoughts on the Last of Us Part 2 PC recommended specs: youtu.be/yPy5us4gUUA

2024 proves a challenging year for Valve's ultraportable, as big-budget games grow increasingly more complex.

RTGI massively improves AC Shadows’ visual presentation - and PS5 Pro is the only console with the technique in all modes. It’s a stark visual win for Sony’s enhanced console.

Mark Cerny answered a range of our questions on Sony's Amethyst collaboration with AMD - but the key headline is this: FSR 4 will be 're-implemented' for PlayStation 5 Pro as the next evolution of PSSR, coming to games in 2026: www.eurogamer.net/digitalfound...

DF Direct Weekly #203 is out now, discussing AMD's impressive RDNA 4 reveal, Fable's delay to 2026, La Quimera's 4A-powered debut trailer, Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 Pro and much, much more: youtu.be/TjDaBBiavpU
