Over the last 3 years, I interviewed 100+ people under 30 to understand how #MeToo, the fall of Roe v. Wade, the rise of social media and more have changed their sex lives. THE SECOND COMING: Sex and the Next Generation’s Fight Over Its Future is now out in the world. Buy it at your local bookstore.

The Peace Candidate.

The shrugging. The pulling the guy up by his collar after learning they fucked up. The masks and anonymity ensuring they’ll never be held accountable (not that it was likely, anyway). We are turning into a “papers, please” country. And it’s the banality and nonchalance that’s most terrifying.

I’m here in Jena, Louisiana with a small group of other media waiting on the release of Mahmoud Khalil from ICE detention:

Since @oliverlaughland.bsky.social and I published our investigation into the 287(g) program in late April, nearly 200 more agencies have joined. There are now over 700 agencies across the US collaborating ICE to help with immigration enforcement www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...

But mostly, they worried about the people who, because of these cuts, will die” @anniewaldman.bsky.social profiles 150+ scientists harmed by Trump cuts projects.propublica.org/nih-cuts-res...

NEW: The Trump administration said their research did not "enhance health, lengthen life, or reduce illness." Thousands of scientists disagreed. We heard from +150 researchers impacted by the NIH grant terminations on what is being lost in the cuts. 🧵👇 projects.propublica.org/nih-cuts-res...

US secretary of state Marco Rubio says the Trump administration will soon abandon its attempt to broker a peace deal in Ukraine. Predictable, lazy and absurd: the US has taken no concrete steps to pressure Moscow, while blaming Kyiv for the war www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

BBC took live an announcement from European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen on Trump’s tariffs, while Fox News, MSNBC and CNN all had regular programming. It’s not really surprising, but maybe speaks to why the U.S. is in this position. Other countries don’t really exist.

The Trump tariffs hit Antarctic islands inhabited by zero humans and many penguins: www.wired.com/story/trump-...

norfolk island, an external territory of Australia with a population of 2,188 people, has been hit with a 29% tariff by the Trump administration. as far as I can tell their biggest export to the US in 2023 was $413k of leather footwear out of a total $655k
