Mě přijde, že v tom vysvětlení ještě chybí nějaký prvek role-playingu, kde ty lidé často tuší, že to není úplně realita, ale je to, co je zábavné. Četl jsem někdo srovnání s wrestlingem v USA. Aneb kdyby staří muži hráli víc D&D neměli by potřebu si tady hrát na vymítače satana

Hey, it's not all bad, we did receive funding for a similar project, working on a game about war with the War Childhood Museum. Part of the project is also tackling prejudice against the game medium, which is a big problem. Check it out @charlesgames.bsky.social or at mementoes.eu

Production is one of the areas in games where teams tend to have a significantly higher percentage of non-men in these roles, so I think that definitely is a factor. Production is often treated like the fun police or “mom” and that attitude doesn’t help get the game out the door.

Czech republic is mentioned out of nowhere, maybe it's a typo, but I don't know about it being a top destination for game companies. Maybe they mistook it for Romania after the amazon bukurest game studio opening.

7] Your CPU is very, very fast. If you're working with structs, tightly packed in memory, you can easily update thousands of items per frame, without perf. issues. If you iterate over a list of class instances, scattered around in memory, the CPU will be mostly idle waiting for the memory.

6] Make it work, than make it fast - connected to the last point, try to first validate your game design ideas, before spending time optimizing their code. You might cut them entirely and that time would be wasted.

5] Measure before Optimizing - some things are fast, some things are slow, without profiling how can you be really sure you've made things faster? see also: premature optimization is the root of all evil.

4] Connect google sheets - some things are better edited with google sheets, especially helpful with multiple collaborators, for things like translations or game design parameters (e.g. weapon stats). Connecting to google sheets is easy using their Javascript API

3] Extend your editor - add tools to help with repetitive tasks and to catch errors. Investing effort early will pay off near the finish line.

2] Mess with geometry on the fly. The engines make it seem very static - import mesh from a 3D program and that's it. But be aware that you can also construct meshes on the fly or mess with vertices/UVs in scripts and in shaders. It's fun 😊

1] Use a SCM tool (git, plastic, etc...) - never be afraid to delete old, obsolete stuff from your project. You can't reason about your code if it's just a big mess.

Koláč (Kolaatsch) is a Czech sweet round pastry with fillings in the middle, like plum jam or poppyseeds. Never seen a sausage variety, sounds wild 😄

Oh ok, it's two diff things. Games are great for teaching stuff, if they are designed for it. But a random AAA game is a much harder for sure

Maybe I misunderstood, but games that are made specifically for schools, to be used with projectors/interactive blackboards are really common, at least here in Czechia. We made some ourselves with Charles Games

We made a few games aimed at a classroom setting, overwhelming majority of schools have a projector at least that can be used. Are Czech schools uniquely well equipped?

You are describing something that's commonplace in schools nowadays and has been for some time. Not magic of course.
