Disclosure. I live in a rural location. I know two family farmers that have cashed in as their properties were over inflated. I sat in the local pub talking to one ofthem. It was about the cash.
You have a valid argument, but there is another side equally valid. You can't ignore that.

Give me your solution to the hyper inflation engulfing agricultural land and property. A solution to the recent c. 50% cashing in on this market.
Doing nothing isn't a solution. I'm open to listening to your solution to stopping ALL ruining this sector for the genuine family farms.

But c.50% of recent farm sales from small/medium farms (family farms) have been sold to private buyers. Cashing in on high land values.
Equals less working farms, continued over inflated market.
Sellers are part of the problem.
Look at the inflation increase of your assets, that's the problem.

Over recent years c.50% of agricultural farmland land has been sold to #Dyson #Clarkson private equity and the like.
That's the ordinary family farmer selling up to cash in on high land prices.
You have to have sellers to facilitate buyers.
c.50% are NOT passing the farm down the family chain.

I don't like him either, but you have to accept he appeals to a wide audience. He uses that to his own ends, just as Boris did.
All confidence tricksters have an ability to charm/manipulate their target.
Don't mistake the acknowledgement of that characteristic as a good thing, far from it!

Absolutely spot on. I see him just as I see #BorisJohnson.
Everything is about him. Has certain charm and charisma, but it's all a con for those gullible enough to suck it up.
Just another snake oil salesman!

Many were conned too. They were promised Brexit would solve whatever issues concerned them.
Leave understood the populism angle of promising simple solutions to complex issues would secure enough floating voters to secure their victory.
Only problem, like right wing populism today, it's nonsense!

I don't know any farmer who has c.3m asset inc farmhouse.
If a couple has a shared interest it's 1m+1m +1m for the property. So very few fall into that tax.
How about getting angry with #Dyson #Clarkson They exploited this farmland exemption to avoid inheritance tax. They are the problem.
