Take a look around Yellowknife's new aquatic centre. It cost the city just over $70 million and opens on Monday.

What is it with Whitehorsians thinking their car is worth ~$6K more than what it should be? No matter how much you put into a vehicle for regular maintenance, it does not increase its value more than what you paid for it.

The amount of time and money it will cost me to transition off Shopify will be about $2000 and yet I think I need to do it.

Poilievre would require a referendum for every federal tax increase??? First, a referendum would be incredibly expensive (electoral reform would have cost $300 million, for example) Second, good luck ever raising taxes again (including on the rich!)

Are any conservatives echoing elbows up?

Looks about YT for all the candidates for MP in Yukon.

I know this comes from a place of privilege, but I have cancelled my Prime account. Will never order or use the company again. Next step, step away from all Meta platforms.

It's too bad Green Bay hasn't shown up yet. Would have liked to see an afternoon game today. #nfcwildcard

Now that the rotting orange pumpkin has a criminal record, can other countries bar him from entering?

This is my last day before my three day weekend of the first four day work week my employer has just implemented. I'm pretty excited about this transition, but mang, I'm exhausted adjusting to 9 hour work days.

If the rate of death for journalists in Gaza happened in Canada, it would equal 3,200 journalists being killed in 15 months.

Update: Comments on @rachelgilmore.bsky.social’s video about me getting banned by Canada’s biggest subreddit have been locked by Canada’s other big subreddit (r/OnGuardForThee) A pinned moderator’s note cites anti-harassment policies and a non-existent rule about not criticizing other subreddits

My plan for the coming year is very similar to Calvin and Hobbes' and my Exploring will take me from the Yukon wilderness to Greenland. Bring it on!

Uhhh can somebody who isn't blocked please tag Self-Styled-Media-Critic Jesse Brown and ask him: Why did he remove the Canadian Anti-Hate Network statement about Caryma's harassing behaviour from his "further reading" section and replace it with favourable coverage? Super ethical journalism 10/10

Intelligence and national security experts I've spoken to over the years regularly say the same thing. North America has a *homegrown* extremism issue, and outside forces like Russia exploit and exacerbate these existing divisions rather than creating them in the first place.

I’m “I’m old enough to remember when scalping concert tickets was a crime” years old. Of course, that’s back when the “criminal” was a lone guy selling tix outside the event venue. Then scalping got incorporated, and now it’s a “capitalist success story”.

Talk about a political stunt! #CPC leader Pierre Poilievre calls the temporary holiday GST cut a « political stunt » after shouting ‘axe the tax’ inanely for at least a year. Hey, PP, make up your mind! #cdnpoli #canadasky

If Cons get elected, they will cut MANY things, like Denta/Pharma, but even things they don’t promise to cut will be cut: “Oh the books were far worse than we imagined. We have to cut childcare and start privatising health care services,” etc. ⚠️ Don’t say you weren’t warned. ⚠️

I love this!!

The Enchanted Owl by the late Inuk Canadian artist Kenojuak Ashevak is likely the most recognizable piece of Canadian art and definitely one of the most iconic. It is a stone cut print on Japanese rice paper. Inuit art from Kinngait, Nunavut (formerly Cape Dorset).

The wildfire evacuations in Fort Nelson have really underlined the death of local news. This is a community of about 4,000 people whose town is under threat and the closest newsroom is almost 400 km away. There are, as best I can tell, no local reporters since the newspaper closed after 64 years

Been about 20 hours since we lost telcom across the Yukon due to a wildfire burning both our fibre optic connections to BC. Some limited/patchy internet is back now, but still no 911 service or cellular. Yukoners: CBC radio has updates on the hour. CKRW is running a message every 15 mins or so. ❤️
