Received an email labeled: "Letter To The Editor. [Please PRINT] i edited it myself - Thanks." Sir, that's not how any of this works. (For now, at least.)

My Lord Bag of Rice is a Japanese folktale about a brave man who met a beautiful woman on his travels who was actually a Dragon Princess in disguise. She was seeking his help to defeat a giant #yokai centipede who had terrorised her family. He accompanied her to the Dragon... #LegendaryWednesday 1/2

Phillies lost to a Top 5 American League starting pitcher with an offense that's missing Harper and that will hopefully add a platoon bat who can start vs. lefties at the deadline. Bummer but nothing to stress over.

Winner.

Very meh on Garcia. But I'd take the Rangers' LH reliever Hoby Milner in a heartbeat.

An interesting trend I'm seeing in folks posting their personal NYT Top 10 of the 21st century -- and maybe it's small sample size -- is that No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, long stalwarts of these lists, are getting left off a lot of the lists. (I went with Phantom Thread for PTA)

Yeah, Dylan Lee is pretty much my dream acquisition for the Phillies' bullpen. Overpay, baby.

Here's Vincent Price and a bunch of cats

Now watching: ‘Doctor X’, dir. Michael Curtiz, 1932. Shot in an early form of colour with only red and green – which really adds to the weird vibe. 🎬🎥

I'm sure I whiffed on something, but this was my try on movies of the 2000s. Ten is just too few for a quarter-century!

Artist Paul Orban sf-encyclopedia.com/entry/orban_... was born on this day, so here's some examples of his cover art. The 3rd was for Lester del Rey's "Marooned on Mars":

This is how you run a bookshop: First view is what you see when you walk in Arch & Bridge, Bellows Falls, VT. Duane, bookseller since '75, is behind those stacks. "I'm here," he says. He is. Stack to his right is his current "to-read." Oldest he owns is by King Charles I, executed for tyranny.

On the Today Show Monday, Jalen Hurts announced the release of his new children’s book, “Better Than a Touchdown.” “It’s always been a dream of mine to have my own children’s book,“ Hurts said on the show. ”Today, that dream finally comes true."

Phillies are going to have to get creative, gamble on someone who might not be a sure thing, and overpay for relief help. But they have to do SOMETHING. Some guys I like for them: Jalen Beeks, Caleb Ferguson, Louis Varland, Bryan Baker, Keegan Akin

7-1 was the Phillies' lead in the ninth inning when the Mets rallied to beat them 8-7 in May 2022. That left a scar. So, yes, I was very pleased to see the Mets pinch-hitting for Soto tonight when the score was ... 7-1.

My "walk away from the game for 20 minutes" strategy has a really high success percentage.

Maybe the Eloi got that way from centuries of relying on AI instead of having original thoughts or critical thinking skills.

Woke up at 4:50 a.m. to feed desert ferals MeowMix, Gumball, Splash, Creamsicle & Mamacita at the crack of dawn. Thought I might be able to crawl back onto the futon and sleep until 8 a.m. Instead, jarred awake at 6:40 a.m. from a massive anxiety nightmare involving math, deadlines and babies.

I know intradivision trades are tough, but given the Chris Sale news, the Phillies really should have conversations with the Braves about lefty reliever Dylan Lee. He's exactly what they need, controllable through 2028 and, yes, I'd overpay.

Forever a Woman 1955 Kinuyo Tanaka. Criterion uses the adjective audacious but it’s more audacious than that. Very unique film & another key to deciphering KT
